7 big room DJs to see on Ibiza this week

Make some noise for the big room big boys.

A big part of why we love clubbing in Ibiza isn't just because the tunage is superb, but because the clubs in which we digest those monstrous sets are massive. Our colossal haunts are what put this place on the map for the raving globetrotters as there's nothing quite like being surrounded by thousands of likeminded beat munchers. This week we're pushing you in the direction of the big room smashers that bring in the high-octane, relentless drops.

Monday 8 August / EDX / No Xcuses Vista Club (Privilege)

Maurizio Colella (a.k.a EDX) has made a name for himself in the international EDM scene, headlining the world's best clubs and biggest festivals. In the past, he's smashed it in front of 60,000 ravers and he's on the island with his banging recipe for a total of 10 weeks. He's been up there with the likes of Axwell, Benny Benassi, Kelis, Deadmau5, Armand van Helden, Bob Sinclar, and we could go on but we're sure that's enough proof that his residency is one of those ones to leave you sweaty and satisfied.

Tuesday 9 August / Luka Caro / Ibiza Paint Party at Privilege

Ibiza Paint Party is one of the new kids on the block this year and has been causing all kinds of mayhem with neon paint in Privilege's gigantic main room. Expect EDM hits to rain down fast and furiously with Luka Caro – a resident who's shared space with Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Steve Aoki and Showtek. You won't find yourselves at a paint party in the world's biggest nightclub too often, so have your batteries fully charged and prepare for some messy chaos in proper hardcore Ibiza style.

Wednesday 10 August / Axwell Λ Ingrosso / Ushuaïa

They've been one of Ushuaïa's star attractions for the past three years and they're driving home the goods every Wednesday in 2016. Once members of supergroup, Swedish House Mafia, these two have been dicing with the decks as a duo to devastatingly good effect for the past few years. Melodic vocals, euphoric synths and pounding basslines are what characterise their pop-tinged dance music and Ushuaïa - with its showdown of well-lit stage productions - is a peachy hotspot to revel in the kind of show this pair put on week after week.

Thursday 11 August/ DJ Spoony / Ministry of Sound at Ocean Beach

We bigged up the superclubs in the intro, but we know that you lot arrive gagging for a day session. Think big tunes with the Ministry of Sound squad who host Ocean Beach's pool party every Thursday. DJ Spoony is your man in charge and he delves into all kinds of ammo – from hip hop to house.

Friday 12 August / Martin Garrix / Multiply at Ushuaïa

The fresh-faced Dutchman has been on an absolute flyer and this year became the youngest artist to close out the Ultra Music Festival mainstage. In 2015 he came to Ibiza and conquered and that rightfully led him down the path to another mammoth residency at Ushuaïa. His Multiply party lines up the chart-topping hits in that'll have your thighs sore from jumping and your throats sore from screaming.

Saturday 13 August / Abel The Kid / SuperMartXé at Privilege

SuperMartXé is back at Privilege for 2016 as one of the club's strongest nights and the island's biggest gay-friendly parties. A little bit outrageous and a big bit brash, it's for the pleasure seekers who're after a feast for the eyes and the ears. Expect risqué choreography, high energy and terrific visual effects during the amazing live shows on stage and beautiful and crazy fashion shows on an extreme scale. This week Spanish showman, Abel The Kid, is one of the power weapons of choice to drop the electro house bombs thick and heavy.

Sunday 14 August / Armin Van Buuren / House of Madness at Amnesia

Armin van Buuren blew Space to pieces with a trance heavy set at Creamfields festival. This weekend we're lucky to have the titan back to do much of the same at Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike's Amnesia residency. He's been in for one House of Madness session this season so far and by all accounts it was pretty damn incredible, so don't miss out on his last gig with the House of Madness pack.
