Sónar Festival reveals 40 artists for its 2016 edition

Jean-Michel Jarre, Fatboy Slim, Martinez Brothers and many more.

Sónar Festival has developed into one of the most respected electronic music festivals in the world, a feat Barcelona achieves year after year. An event where music, creativity and technology amble the streets of the city for three consecutive days. For its twenty third edition, celebrated the upcoming 16th, 17th and 18th of June, the organisation have prepared more than 150 shows to be cheered on by electronic music lovers from all over the world.

The sun, the sea, the party culture and the vast local musical intuition have made Barcelona city the perfect match for Sónar to be created, developed and enjoyed. The festival, which has already confirmed names such as New Order, John Grant, Kenny Dope, Matías Aguayo and the big man Fatboy Slim, sums upto now more than 40 artists on a line-up that seems to get more diverse each year.

One of the most attractive announcements is the French producer Jean-Michel Jarre - a pioneer of electronic music - and the presentation of his new work, Electronica 1: The Time Machine. Mano Le Though with Trails, Flume with Skin, Howling with Signs or James Blake with Radio Silence are some of the artists who will also show the public their respective new projects during the festival sessions.

Amongst the most most highly anticipated DJ sets we found names such as The Martinez Brothers, Jackmaster, John Talabot, Boys Noize and the usual suspects of Sónar: Four Tet and Laurent Garnier, both of them presenting 7h DJ sets on the first two nights of the festival. But the list of names increases to the shows of David August, Raster Noton, Red Axex and Ivy Lab among others.
