Guide to the BBC Radio 1 Weekend

Creamfields, BBC Radio 1 and more during the busiest and craziest week of the summer.

ONE of the best things about coming to a party island like Ibiza is that the concept of weekends simply doesn't exist. Instead you find yourself scratching your head in awe of the party calendar that shows no mercy in terms of amazing artists and venues for e v e r y day of the week. So let us welcome you to the busiest 5 days of the season with open arms, and hopefully this guide will help to get you through in one piece.

DAY: Wednesday 29th July, 2015
PARTY: Ibiza Rocks & Paradise at DC10

For all those braving the midweek boogie, our suggestions would be to check out Ibiza Rocks and Paradise at DC10.

Ibiza Rocks have without a doubt brought over some of the world's greatest bands to an island that is dominated with electronic soundscapes. Every week for 10 years they have curated an outstanding line up and this Wednesday will bring the same caliber as Rudimental and Sam Sure take over the Rocks stage.

An open-air concert venue located within a hotel, the perfect start to a night out on the island with doors opening at 8pm till midnight. Ibiza rocks is easily located in the heart of San Antonio with buses frequently departing to Ibiza town and Playa den Bossa, or if you're a true sport and planning to go to DC10 afterwards, take the bus to Salinas which stops just past the club or a taxi that will set you back about 25 euro. You can purchase your ticket for Ibiza Rocks directly via Ibiza Spotlight.

DC10 has always been considered the mecca of underground music in Ibiza and so it came as no surprise when Jamie Jones chose this venue for his weekly take over with Paradise. And as the name says it all... we will leave it up to you to fill in the blanks! This week it's a back-to-back double header with our man Jones head to head with Music On's Capriati, Joy Orbison in the booth with Roman Flügel and Italojohnson dropping in for some disco.

- Jamie Jones B2B Joseph Capriati
- Joy Orbison B2B Roman Flügel

- Richy Ahmed

DAY: Thursday 30th July, 2015
PARTY: Cream Anniversary at Amnesia

Call it coincidence or call it fate, but if you have come to Ibiza during the same week as the Cream anniversary at Amnesia, then you can consider yourself very fortunate. Your plans for this Thursday night are pretty much set in stone because going to the Cream 21st anniversary party is an absolute no-brainer. Cream has simply outlived many (if not all) the party promoters on the island and that's a testimony to the importance of its relationship to the island and to its host Amnesia. Its progressive trance and electro beats have lured in countless revelers who keep returning year after year. For the anniversary date they have pulled out all the stops with a mouthwatering line-up including three label bosses that are no strangers to the Cream playing field. Introducing Eric Prydz, Sasha and Paul Van Dyk who will be ready to tear down those walls and have you dance like it's Cream's first birthday - from midnight till the wee hours of the morning. Amnesia is located just round the corner of San Rafael, and lucky for us there are disco buses that leave every half hour to and from San Antonio, Playa D'en Bossa, and Ibiza Town. Guarantee yourself a front row seat and get your tickets with Ibiza Spotlight.

DAY: Friday 31st July, 2015
PARTY: BBC Radio 1 at Ushuaïa, Music On at Amnesia, Life & Death at DC10

So the weekend has finally arrived and you should be ready to go full throttle as we have another massive birthday on the island with BBC Radio 1 celebrating its 20th anniversary.

The BBC Radio 1 Ushuaïa take over on Friday marks the beginning of a series of events hosted by BBC Radio 1 from July 31st till August 2nd. The following information should be read with caution as it has been prone to induce giddiness, wheezing and high shrieks of pleasure. BBC Radio 1 have put together a line up which is simply mind-boggling, including Calvin Harris, Disclosure, Jamie Jones b2b Patrick Topping and of course BBC Radio 1 figure head Pete Tong, with the event hosted by the lovely Annie Mac from 5pm till midnight.

This event is really a thank you to all the BBC Radio 1 listeners, as the 7000 attending the event will do so completely free. Although there were no tickets, there were wristbands available that would admit entry into the club, If you are one of the lucky ones with an entry for BBC Radio 1 at Ushuaïa note that there buses that will drive you to Playa d'en Bossa from both Ibiza Town and San Antonio. For the rest of you, unfortunately the event has been sold out! For more info head here. http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/articles/38fgYWkQhKlDJ2z7vWvgLKw/tickets-for-radio-1-ibiza-20

Since Ushuaïa is only until midnight, I'm sure it will only leave you wanting more. It's Friday night after all and we won't take no for an answer. After the BBC Radio 1 birthday opening, there is really only one place for you to go. The Italian underground electronic music label Life & Death are hosting the first of their DC10 takeovers and you can be assured that they are going to go big. Headlining each of the 5 events will be Tale of Us, joined by Recondite, Ming Against and Job Jobse for the opening, curating only the deepest and darkest of sounds in one of Ibiza's most coveted clubs. We recommend buying tickets well in advance for this one and your best luck will be to buy them directly from the DC10 website. DC10 is easily accessible by taxi or take a bus to Salinas that stops just past the club.

If DC10 and Life & Death haven't quite whet your appetite (which I simply cannot imagine), Friday nights on Ibiza are also synonymous with Music On at Amnesia, the underground techno party hosted by main man Marco Carola. This Friday will see the likes of Apollonia, Paco Osuna, Barem and Bas Ibellini on the bill. Tickets through Ibiza Spotlight.

For the first time in history world famous festival Creamfields is coming to Ibiza. Yes you read that right. Rest assured that one ticket (which you can buy on Ibiza Spotlight), will grant access to all three venues, so you can choose your favourites from a line-up that goes on for days. Some major highlights that aren't to be missed are The Prodigy, Pendulum (DJ set), BBC Radio 1 host Annie Mac, Duke Dumont, Hannah Wants (read our interview with her here), MK, Above & Beyond, Afrojack, Ben Pearce, Pete Tong and Steve Angello. DAY: Sunday 2nd August, 2015
PARTY: BBC Radio 1 at Ibiza Rocks, Solomun + 1 Pacha

It's Sunday, and you're still standing, because you're high on life and the music will just not let you stay away. On the agenda today is the closing party of BBC Radio 1 at Ibiza Rocks and since we're already at it, why not throw in some of Solomun's deep and heavy house hitters at the iconic Ibiza Town club Pacha to end the night.

No one is safe this Sunday as Pete Tong takes over the decks for BBC Radio 1's Ibiza Rocks take over for the final installment of their 20th anniversary. I can barely get the words through the typewriter but Faithless (yikes I did it!) and Kölsch (oh my lord) will be joining him on stage - pure musical bliss from 8pm till midnight. Unfortunately (but very predictable with a line up of this magnitude) the tickets are all sold out for this event, however you can tune in on BBC Radio 1 from 7pm till 11pm (UK time) and still enjoy the show from the comforts of your own home. However if you are looking to get to San Antonio, taxis from Ibiza Town will set you back around 20€ or the bus stop is about a ten minute walk from Rocks Hotel.

For the last stretch of the week, there simply is no place better to go than Pacha for Solomun +1 with this week's special guest being tech-house head Butch. Few artists flow through genres and emotional landscapes as fluid as Butch perfectly complementing Solomun and his Diynamic deep house sound. Tickets can be bought directly via Ibiza Spotlight and as always the disco bus will bring you straight to the gates of Pacha.

We hope that our 5-day party guide will help you find your footing in the wild jungle of Ibiza parties, but please remember to stay safe. It's Ibiza peak season so try and get tickets beforehand whenever you can to avoid disappointment at the door. Remember to lather yourself in sunscreen and avoid midday sunbathing if it's your first day (you don't want to go out on your first night looking like a lobster). Make sure to drink plenty of water and keep calm when facing big crowds and queues – the best way to get through it is to make a party out of every second you're out, your positive energy will be bound to get you several new friends a long the way. Good times guaranteed!
