Freddie Mercury's birthday party at Pikes

Moustaches at the ready - it's Freddie Day!.

Next week, Pikes Hotel celebrates one of its most notorious former guests - Freddie Mercury's - birthday, with an all day house party that the man himself would be proud of, all in the aid of charity. This will be the fourth year Ibiza Rocks holds their 'Freddie For A Day' bash, where guests of all ages are invited to don their very best Freddie clobber - moustache mandatory - and play, sing and dance the night away in the Queen front man's former suite.

Last year saw children with chest hair playing in the bath tub-come-karaoke ball pit, former owner Tony Pike enjoying an impromptu ukulele performance in a neon Mohawk wig, and one of the Spotlight team in a bin (I'm as intrigued as you), so if eccentricity is what you look for in your festivities then look no further.

This year the party kicks off early doors with the infamous Sunday Roast at 1pm, and bouncy castles over in the 'Kiddies Rock Freddies' area in the Tennis Court from 3-9pm, before celebrations continue on into the night with live performances from electro pop trio Kids On Bridges and live DJ Jamie Porteous aka Bravofox. Manning the decks will be American DJ and producer Felix Da Housecat, as well as special guests including Mark Jones, Andy Carroll, and island legend Jon Sa Trinxa.

VIDEO | Freddie Mercury's relationship with Ibiza is impressive, including filming this live performance for the video of his famous record 'Barcelona' at Ku, now known as Privilege.

There will of course be karaoke for any budding front men and women in Mercury's luxurious ball-pit bathtub, where host Sunny will be on hand with the teapot shots for those with the X-factor. And for the best dressed Freddie? The winner will be treated to the complete Ibiza Rocks VIP Experience, that includes dinner for two, VIP passes to the Ibiza Rocks Opening Party 2015, a room in the hotel itself and a Pikes Full English Breakfast to tuck into the next morning.

As usual with Pikes there's no tickets required, just get yourself on guest list, with a 5€ donation on the door and 5€ donation for the Kids Corner with Freddie Tash included - with 100% of the contributions going to the Mercury Phoenix Trust.

The bash is happening next Sunday, 7th September, so as fun as all this sounds, (and as great as we look in a tash), team Spotlight will be giving this one a miss as we'll be over on the other side of the island at Space, for our fourth and final El Salon Takeover, Music for Dreams with Kenneth Bager. Spoilt for choice!
