Ooooo we've got a serious and potentially life threatening case of the Saturday Night Fever over here! Someone call a doctor! Failing that, a couple of tickets to Booom!'s new Saturday night disco party - Glitterbox - would probably cure our ailment.
Run in conjunction with Defected Records and their booking agency, the party is a hark back to a few seasons past where Defected's parties were much more classic house and disco focused than their current incarnation. These days, Defected hosts Booom! on Tuesdays as the musical policy is that of a more vocal, deep and straight up house persuasion with the likes of Guti, Noir, Oliver $ and Nick Curly.
The opening party last Saturday featured Dimitri From Paris and X-Press 2 as headline acts, with the former providing the soundtrack for the time we were in attendance. I took note of a few tracks over the course of the set that will aid in your questions regarding the sort of musical fun-times you can expect at the party. Pharrell Frontin', Faith Evans Love Like This Before, Trammps Disco Inferno, Chic Everybody Dance, Chic Lost in Music, Daft Punk One More Time and lastly Belinda Carlisle Live Your Life Be Free (possibly Freedom remix).
Tonight, Dimitri From Paris - actually lives in Paris, was born in Turkey with family connections in Greece - returns to Booom! with David Morales, Crazy P and Mr Doris. Ultimate house and disco vibes are in store for those in attendance, making this one of the most easily accessible, and easily enjoyable, nights on the island. Friends, disco balls and ridiculous behaviour is the order of the day.
Spotlight will be down at Glitterbox, Booom!, Saturday 21st June, for Greg Wilson, X-Press 2, Horse Meat Disco and DJ Pippi for what will be an ultimate night of disco goodness. Tickets are on sale now for only 35€.
