Ibiza Soundtrack: July 2013

10 great tracks making the rounds of Ibiza parties this month... close your eyes, play them through and imagine you're here.

1. Kölsch

‘Goldfisch'

Kölsch's emotive techno pops up at many an after party and final track in Ibiza, this particularly epic number getting love from Maceo Plex and Laurent Garnier especially. It comes from his recent album 1977, which is an extremely personal record, inspired by Kölsch's childhood.

2. Darius Syrossian & Hector Couto

'House is House'

The name says it all - this collaboration has found a home all across the island, for example Deetron threw it out to the Space Terrace and of course the hallowed house halls of Sankeys have heard this via Darius Syrossian and many more. Old school vocal samples, energetic hi-hats and a grrrrrowling bass line combine to assure this song widespread popularity.

3. DJ Wild

'Shape U'

This has been a disco curveball at many a techno night. Although a new release from Wild on Rebellion, samples of the 70s disco band SOS take it straight back in time and sound funky as anything. This on gets even the chinstrokers moving.

4. Jimpster

'These Times' (Dixon remix)

They may not have their residency at We Love Space this season, but the Innversions force is still strong on the island. Here's a Dixon reworking of a big track from last year which has been brought to the surface again through play from Innervisions DJs and Solomun.

5. Ten Walls

'Gotham'

Innervisions again, because they know how to pick a winner. This is one of the biggest tracks in the dark corners of the island this season, with play at Space, DC-10, Amnesia and Ushuaïa Tower (via Sasha). Incredibly moody and dark, Gotham will easily survive as one of the techno tracks of the season, well beyond Ibiza.

6. Duke Dumont

'The Giver'

This deep house classic from Duke Dumont features ridiculously catchy vocals and a very sparse texture that has struck a chord with a lot of listeners. This is aired at all the deep house locales like Sankeys for example, but probably getting rinsed the most in the ibiza worker's community of San Antonio.

7. Tale of Us

'Another Earth'

Dark, atmospheric and epic, the latest release from Tale of Us is getting love from the biggest names in he business. Seth Troxler, Jamie Jones, Sven Väth, Maceo Plex and many more have sent punters in DC-10, Amnesia and Space mental with this in the past month and we're nowhere near sick of it yet.

8. Storm Queen

'Look Right Through' (MK remix)

Another workers' favourite, this release on the powerhouse label that is Defected starts like a lot of other contemporary deep house tunes at the moment, then drops into the most gorgeous, soulful garage-house synth line that is quite a different beast than the original.

9. Santos Resiak

'A Better Light' (Martinez Brothers remix)

Darius Syrossian at Viva Warriors, Joris Voorn at We Love Space and naturally the Martinez Brothers at Music On... this remix is bleeding into our ears from every angle. Understated and cool, it's perfect for the serious-face shoulder shrugging tech-house that's taking the island by storm this season.

10. Kings of Tomorrow

'Fall For You' (Sandy Rivera's classic mix)

We mostly have DJ Sneak to thank for bring this gorgeous number to the island. A new release from Defected, this Fall For You remix is about as smooth as it gets. We heard it first at Space, but it has since been colouring beach bars and sunset cafes with its chiller tones.
