There'll be a few changes in San Antonio this year which should help tourists to Ibiza's second city enjoy their stay even more. The tourist information office will be moving out of the small building it occupies next to the kids' playground on the main 'fountains' square and into bigger offices in the old town hall, just along the square.

The old tourist office will now be used by the Local Police and Guardia Civil in the high season – mid-June to mid-September – who will man the office daily to make life easier for tourists who may have been the victims of crime, who in the past have had to trail out of town to find the offices of both organisations.

They'll be able to give useful information about how to stay safe or how to report thefts etc as this is important for making claims on holiday insurance policies and so on. The Guardia Civil's official website stresses that Spain is one of the safest countries in Europe and has some handy tips for holidaymakers which would also apply to most countries in the world.
