Ibiza Tarmac Scam Shock

A group of Eastern European citizens operating in Ibiza have besmirched the good name for honesty and integrity

A group of Eastern European citizens operating in Ibiza have besmirched the good name for honesty and integrity of tarmac gangs all over the world. In a hitherto unprecedented case, it was found that these boyskis from the blackstuff had been charging their unwitting clients for more work than they'd actually done!

The modus operandi of the asphalt Mafia was to quote for work laying tarmac on people's drives on a square metre basis, do the job and then demonstrate to the client just how big it had been using a specially modified tape measure. Calibrated in metres much smaller than the standard metre, which as we all know is the length of the path travelled by light in vacuum during a time interval of 1/299,792,458 of a second, the tape exaggerated the size of the job and hence the lads got paid for more than they'd done.

The Guardia Civil caught up with eight of them last week who are to be charged with fraud shortly. Spotlight's advice to the authorities is if the gang is given a custodial sentence, don't let them mark off the time on their own calendars!

nb. our stock tarmac gang photos are in no way connected with this gang – we just happened to have hundreds of tarmac photos that we'd never been able to use before now.
