Family and friends has been the theme of my week, past. My own family arrived and one of the first places I recommended was Pura Vida and their Breakfast on the Beach. With ‘we'll only be gone for a little while' they re-appeared much later, content and relaxed. Perfect.
Friends are soon arriving and of course, one question I get asked all the time is “What should I pack?”.
Starting this month Leena Bhatti, fashion expert, is sprinkling her fashion fairy dust, mindful not to try your luggage allowance in the process. So, you've got the clothes now where to stay and what to do...
I
New(s): One of my favourites on the island, Aura restaurant and lounge bar welcome “Wax da Jam” from Nightmares on Wax, every Tuesday and it is a hit!
Dinner and DJ - Aura is a great option (and thank you – yet another excuse for me to pop down and enjoy!)
New(s): So, I've been enjoying some of the great restaurants on the island and my waistline, already in a sorry state after winter really needs a talking to. Along comes BodyForming – I was both impressed and cynical so in a moment of daftness, I've agreed to a four week fitness challenge.
"20 minutes BodyForming equals 5hrs normal training"
Really? Look out for my verdict in July.
Hotel of the Week
I asked Les our Hotel Expert to find me something special in Santa Eularia, a small but beautiful town just a short drive from Ibiza. A little quieter than Ibiza, it's got so much to offer that I am still exploring it!
The Orquidea Aparthotel is right in the heart of Santa Eulalia and yet you only have to step over the sea-front promenade to the spacious, sandy beach. The fully equipped studio & apartment accommodation with the full range of meal options and the really large pool make this the ideal choice for the family or for couples looking for a quieter resort." - funny thing is, friends stayed there last year and would agree with Les completely.
Villa of the Week
To the best of my knowledge we are the only website for Ibiza that only lists legally registered villas on the island (and we don't have a stack of illegal properties to offer you, stuffed under a desk!)
Legally registered villas are important for your wellbeing and peace of mind - and just because they're legal, doesn't mean they're expensive. In fact KT, our Villa expert, keeps on surprising me with what she finds, time and time again. Check out Cana Marina - amazing!
Club News of the Week
Stivi, our Club Expert, pulls it out the bag for us again:
"Most of Ibiza's clubs are open now. Last Friday Privilege opened with a spectacular night and it was really nice to see "Privi" in full swing! Its neighbour Amnesia (traditionally the last one of the big clubs launching the season) is celebrating its opening fiesta this coming Saturday and is not to be missed!
Other than that, this week also our most favourite live music promoter kick-starts its season: Ibiza Rocks at the Ibiza Rocks Hotel yesterday with Ed Sheeran and The Milk. And on Sunday, We Love... are launching their 2012 season at Space. Their line ups are second to none with top notch acts week after week. We can't wait!
And if you don't want your friends to know you've been only partying in Ibiza, because you're coming home just as pale as when you left, make sure you hit the beaches and work on your tan! Sa Trinxa on Salinas Beach is a cool place to meet up with fellow clubbers, enjoy the sun and the crystal clear water...and of course, to enjoy the fab music!"
Restaurant of the Week
I have a new joy. It is called Sushiya Aoyama. A tiny Sushi bar tucked away in the cobbled streets of Ibiza, on the edge of Dalt Vila, this fabulous venue serves Sake with sushi made right before your eyes, by Hideki Aoyama, graduate of the prestigious Tokyo Sushi Academy. I popped down to check it out for dinner and glided out, in heaven.
Looking ahead.
Ibiza attracts the best of every walk of life so it was no surprise to learn that we have a Polo Club. Better still, the likes of Adolfo Cambiaso, Sunny Hale & Eduardo Hildalgo are flying in to show us how it is done.
Champagne, sunshine and skills, 21st June – I'll be there.
Whilst I wait for that, I popped along to our “What's On / Ibiza Events” calendar – my No. 1 resource.
Always been intrigued by the Whirling Dervishes? There's a class for that, on Ibiza!
Missed out on the Diamond Jubilee celebrations? Oh, no you haven't! There's a street party in Santa Eulalia. Love it!
If you're after clubbing tickets and dates, it's so easy – just a click or two – Ibiza Spotlight Clubbing Calendar, the ultimate one-stop shop! Very cool!
On behalf of the team at Ibiza Spotlight, wishing you and yours the very best of weekends.
