This year's San Juan Fiesta in Ibiza's village of the same name won't be quite the same as in the past. As a mark of respect for everyone affected by the terrible fire in the area a few weeks ago there won't be any fireworks or the traditional jumping over bonfires this week. There will, however, be jumping over bonfires without fire at the traditional time of midnight on the 23rd of June.
The good news is that there will still be lots of fun and entertainment in the village, so here's the programme for the main days;
23 June
22.30 – Hawaiian spectacular with Party Planet
23.30 – African Dance and Percussion with Wontanara
00.00 – Symbolic Jumping over bonfires
followed by DJ Flower with music from the 60's and 70's
24 June
12.00 Mass followed by a big procession
13.00 Folk Dancing and traditional pastries
18.00 Artisan Market with live Indian music from Raga and Tala
21.00 Magic Show with Aladin
22.30 Live music by Aires Formenterencs
00.00 Fireworks – cancelled
00.30 Live music with Statuas d Sal
It's such a shame that the fireworks display has been cancelled but if you're wondering what it will look like, our Spotlight graphics department has been hard at work again to produce the above simulation. Pity they couldn't have done a video!
