The foreign tourists have gone, the Spanish pensioners on subsidised holidays have already started to arrive, the roads are quieter and life is moving at a slower pace. It's November and Ibiza has changed over night.
Most of the places that cater for the tourists have closed – bars, restaurants, shops, clubs – but there's still plenty going on for the folk who live here.
Despite its small size and summer reputation as electronic dance music heaven, our little island has a thriving live music scene with artists and bands covering a broad spectrum of genres. Jazz, Blues, Soul, Funk, Reggae, African, Irish, Rock and more can all be heard in a plethora of small venues all over Ibiza.
To name but a few, you can catch live combos at, Putumayo Cafe (video) in Cala Gracio, Guarana, Namibia and Somiart in Santa Eulalia, Bar Colon and Casanova in San Antonio, Sam's Sessions in the bay, Can Jordi (photo) and Raco Verd in San Jose, Bistro Can Pa in Cala Vadella, Can Cires in San Mateo, Sansara in San Carlos and Es Vermell, Can Pou, Demiedo, Itaka and Pereyra in Ibiza town.
They all have concerts on different days of the week so I reckon you could spend a week in Ibiza and take in a different venue every night for live music.
On the subject of which, there's a live all day concert to raise funds for Nicaragua with ten local bands in the Cala de Bou (San Antonio Bay) community area near the Hotel Seaview this Sunday, 6th November, from 13.00 until late.
