German car company Volkswagen is holding its annual world congress in Ibiza this year and will bring around 11,500 VW concessionaires from 85 different countries to the island from tomorrow until the 4th November.
VW, the biggest motor manufacturer in Europe has chosen Ibiza as the venue for the congress, because they are trying to change the image of the car from one of just cool efficiency and rationality by adding some 'emotion.' VW bosses perceive Ibiza as the perfect mix of emotion and rationality to symbolise the same in their cars.
Some the island's best hotels will be used to accommodate the VW delegates – Aguas de Ibiza, Insotel Fenicia Prestige, Ibiza Gran Hotel and Ushuaïa Beach Hotel – and they'll also enjoy brunch in the Atzaro Country Hotel, gala dinners in Lio and parties in Pacha!
For the business end of the congress, 300 cars have been brought onto the island for the delegates – about 500 per day – to test, and the parking area at Benirras has been specially adapted as the start point for the trials.
Sounds like a good trip, though VW bosses are keeping schtum on how much the whole shebang has cost them!
