When Luke arrived on Ibiza earlier this summer, he had no idea what fate had in store.
Things didn't go quite to plan at first, but Luke rode out the storm. His resilience was rewarded. After a tally of setbacks which would have broken lesser men, Luke's luck changed for the better when we welcomed him into the clubbing team.
A mid-season appointment we hadn't expected, but was very grateful for helping spread the workload. Ever the optimist, Luke took to his new duties as a freelance contributor like a duck to water. He's the last of the club team to reflect on his top five parties from Ibiza 2024.
SG Lewis | Forever Days | Cova Santa | Wednesday 3 July
Admittedly, I was caught off guard with this line-up. An opportunity to see SG Lewis and Bonobo? This was a truly unique pairing and not one I wanted to miss.
Both sets were unreal, a blend of melodic and Tribal House audience captivated the audience as the sun set behind the hills in the distance. It was a spectacular experience, made even more special by the unique setting of Cova Santa.
Being my first time at the venue at I can totally understand why it is so highly regarded.
Incredible music and an awesome atmosphere, SG Lewis and Bonobo quite honestly pulled it out the bag with this one.
Ben Böhmer | Brunch Elektronik | 528 Ibiza | Friday 19 July
Brunch Elektronik at 528 Ibiza rapidly became a cornerstone of my Ibiza experience. During its short run, it consistently delivered some of the most unforgettable daytime parties the island has to offer. Ben Böhmer and Innellea on 19 July was my favourite of the series.
A long-time fan of Ben Böhmer's melodic mastery, I lapped up every moment.
The German composer is absolutely in a league of his own. Using an array of musical hardware included MIDI keyboards, an Ableton Push 3, a mixer and apollo audio interface, he showcased his live performance skills.
John Digweed | Akasha | Thursday 1 August
A trip up to Las Dalias for a night of Progressive House by GOAT of the genre, John Digweed was hands down one of my favourite gigs of the season. Digweed's set was a masterclass in sonic storytelling, varying in energy, intensity and tone.
Akasha itself was top notch. A far cry from the super-clubs on the island, it offered something different: a more intimate experience, with a focus on sound quality, visuals and overall vibe. Honestly, I couldn't imagine a better environment for Digweed to play.
Culture Shock | Worried About Henry | Eden | Monday 26 August
Every Monday, Liquid D&B legends Hybrid Minds tore it up at Eden alongside an all-star line-up of selectors for Worried About Henry. At the end of August, none other than D&B dancefloor heavyweight Culture Shock was amongst the names.
I witnessed the raw power of both artists throwing it down on their respective Australia tours and can confirm this was a next level Ibiza sesh for any Drum & Bass fan.
Jamie Jones b2b Chris Stussy b2b Archie Hamilton | Paradise | Amnesia | Wednesday 7 August
This night at Paradise was my final night on the island and what a spectacle it was. The b2b2b was peak Amnesia, and I mean that in every sense of the word. Peak season, peak line-up, peak temperatures and peak atmosphere.
Moving between the Terraza and the Main Room, I constantly found myself in a back-and-forth struggle trying to catch as many of the DJs possible. This was underground House music at its finest and the perfect way to finish off my 2024 season. No regrets.
