Escape to Ibiza this winter with direct routes from major European airports

Winter flights boost pan-European connectivity to and from Ibiza.

In what is great news for all lovers of the white island, Ibiza Airport will maintain direct connections via eight international cities this autumn and winter, with the addition of new routes from Frankfurt and Munich marking the season's highlights. According to airport director Marta Torres, this will extend the winter season to around five months in total.

Direct international routes for the 2024-2025 winter season include London, Amsterdam, Eindhoven, Zurich, Paris, and Düsseldorf. Added to this are flights from Frankfurt and Munich, operated by Lufthansa and Eurowings. In Ibiza, according to the Spanish Association of Airlines, around 1.7 million seats are scheduled between November and March, over 5% more than last year.

While the number of routes to Ibiza decreases during the low season, several direct connections remain available, making a sunny escape or a workation by the sea feasible. Key routes include:

  • London (BA CityFlyer), one flight per day
  • Amsterdam and Eindhoven (Transavia), starting 13 December, every day except Wednesday and Saturday
  • Paris (Vueling), every Tuesday
  • Zurich (Edelweiss) from 27 December, 2-3 flights per month; weekly flight from 1 March & (Swiss Air) from 15 February
  • Düsseldorf (Eurowings), from 20 December until 8 January then from 21 February onwards
  • Frankfurt (Lufthansa), weekly direct flights on Saturdays
  • Munich (Eurowings), 8 January, then weekly from 19 March

So, just what makes Ibiza such an appealing winter destination?

The low season in Ibiza offers a different kind of appeal, ideal for those seeking tranquillity and authentic island experiences. Contrary to popular belief, many visitors actually prefer to enjoy the charms of the white island at this time of year.

Highlights include the vibrant Las Dalias and Sant Joan markets, open throughout the season, and the mild daytime weather, perfect for leisurely strolls along deserted beaches or even working on that much needed Vitamin D top-up to ward off the northern European winter blues.

Nor should we overlook the role played by Ibiza's burgeoning gastro scene. Food lovers can indulge in traditional Ibizan and international cuisine at local restaurants or partake in various gastronomic events held during the winter months.

Then there’s Ibiza’s patron saint festivals, such as Santa Eulària, Sant Antoni, and Sant Josep, with their lively outdoor concerts and activities, and the welcome chance to mingle with others. For nature enthusiasts, January and February transform Ibiza’s valleys with almond blossoms, creating a picturesque backdrop for hiking and cycling.

Winter in Ibiza also draws international sports enthusiasts, with many events catering to athletes from near and far. Water sports lovers can take advantage of excellent scuba diving conditions, with crystal-clear visibility and mild seas.

With its enhanced connectivity and unique off-season allure, Ibiza remains an inviting destination for winter travellers in search of its unique offer of culture, nature, gastronomy, sporting activities and relaxation.
