Where to eat in and around Ibiza Town: mid-range to budget

Ibiza's capital is brimming with some of the world's finest international and local cuisine.

As one would expect, Ibiza Town is a bubbling melting pot of International and Spanish cuisine. Each corner and cobbled side street holds the key to some incredible gastronomical delight. A panoply of hidden gems awaits, and getting lost among the narrow alleys and hidden stairways only adds to the fun of an evening in this beautiful town.

With such a lavish choice comes a full spectrum of price points to suit every budget. Luckily, the Spotlight team have the inside knowledge to guide you towards the best destination for your night out and your pocket.

The city is roughly divided into four main zones, the old town - known as Dalt Vila - the modern town centre, the Port area, plus the marina across the bay. Here are just a few of our recommendations you will find while exploring these areas:

Mid-range

Rosty’s Ibiza

A new port-area favourite of the Spotlight team is Rosty's Ibiza. Specialising in traditional Italian dishes with oodles of Mediterranean flair, it offers delicious, Italy-sourced produce along with a nice selection of Italian and Spanish wines just made for pairing & sharing. Rosty’s derives its name from the house’s speciality mini-brochettes of grilled meat, which we suggest you try.

Calma

It’s all here at Calma Restaurant on the water’s edge at Marina Botafoc. An amazing location where you can sit on the dock of the bay, watching the ships roll in and have absolutely the best view of the golden sunset behind the Dalt Vila, the Ibiza old town. The food is a good mix of Mediterranean favourites and the drinks not too pricy but the view makes a repast at Calma a very special occasion every time.

La Bodega

Tucked away beside the Old Market, below the city walls, La Bodega holds the secrets of many years of dedicated service and delicious tapas, which is probably why it is by far the tourist's favourite tapas restaurant go-to. Slightly more expensive than a typical tapas bar, the atmosphere here is lively and bustling.

Heading up the ramp and through the medieval gate to Dalt Vila, you will enter an atmospheric world of narrow streets and charming places to eat.

La Plaza

For dining vibrance we bring you La Plaza, found in the lively Dalt Vila square. Their menu is an interesting fusion of the Southern European dishes of Spain and France, peppered with South American, Italian and Asian flavours and ingredients for good measure.

La Torreta

Just a few steps away, La Torreta is a romantic hotspot that wows with its Mediterranean menu. The exquisite gastronomy is as vibrant and colourful as the wonderful medieval setting. Sit back and relax and let the evening unfold around you.

Cevitxef

A recent addition to the Dalt Vila restaurant scene is Cevitxef, a new outpost for a well-established restaurant in Bilbao. They have brought their love of fresh seafood and Peruvian cuisine from their Basque homeland to amuse the diners of Ibiza and it has proven a big success. We love dining under the tall trees, set a little back from the hustle and bustle.

If you’re craving good quality sushi, then the place to go is Sushiya Aoyama. Close to the centre of town, It may be small in stature but its comprehensive menu and stunning delivery plate after plate - prepared right before you - make it worth the big shout.

Trattoria del Mar

Just across the water, towards Talamanca, beside the beautiful boats of the marina, lies Trattoria del Mar. This top-quality, authentic Italian restaurant is also a candidate for the budget section – we don’t believe you will find a better value 3-course, lunchtime menu del día in a nicer location anywhere on the island.

Bistro del Mar

For a tasty but less formal alternative, Trattoria’s younger sister venue Bistro del Mar can be found not too far away. Pizzas and pasta dominate the menu, and for good reason. It is a regular hang-out for the city’s Italian population and another venue that’s popular at lunchtimes.

Chambao

For that all-important feet-in-sand beach experience on Talamanca beach, Chambao at Nobu Ibiza Bay Hotel holds its own. A chiringuito-style restaurant, they serve some of the finest authentic homemade paellas and freshly caught fish we’ve tasted. Also, if you fancy taking in a morning beach stroll, then their healthy breakfasts are well worth the walk.

Tapas and budget

Ibiza Town Tapas Restaurants

Being a city in the true sense, Ibiza is home to some typically Spanish metropolitan tapas bars that sell delicious small portions, montaditos, and pinchos, ideal for eating on the go.

La Cava

Located on the pedestrianised square of Vara de Rey, with a perfect position for people-watching, La Cava is an Ibiza Town hotspot. From modern Tapas to classic Spanish dishes, this is a popular meeting point for islanders and tourists alike.

Scampi69

Nestled among the narrow side streets of the port area is a charmingly romantic little restaurant run by an Austrian/Swiss couple who infuse their delicious tapas with a little Alpine freshness. At Scampi69, you will be enchanted by the warmth of your welcome, so cool off with a refreshing Spritz!

La Tapería del Pueblo

Popular with a younger crowd, La Tapería del Pueblo is an easy place to meet up with friends for a tapas feast. Situated on the outskirts of the town, forming part of the Multi Cines complex, dishes here are really cheap and plentiful and cover the full spectrum of Spanish tapas dishes, with the addition of their own gourmet burger selection.

El Zaguán

If it's pinchos you’re after - small tapas served on bread, originating from the Basque region – then El Zaguán is an authentic, bustling Tapas restaurant that keeps its prices low but its standards high, as the dishes continuously flow from the kitchen.

Bar Comidas San Juan

Another Ibiza classic, Bar Comidas San Juan, with a simple door to beckon you in, is a busy meeting point for both tourists and locals. Offering cheap and authentic Spanish menus, on a first-come, first-served basis, it's another popular spot that gives you a real taste of Spanish living.

Skinny Kitchen Figueretas

A bit further out of the town centre in the neighbourhood of Figueretas and right on the sea promenade, Skinny Kitchen has opened a branch to the joy of its loyal clientele. Serving up generous, healthy dishes catering for all types of foodies all day and night, you and the whole family will love the choice of fresh, nutritious and tasty options.

For those who need something with a hot Asian punch to stimulate their taste buds, you will need to search a little further out of town, but it’s worth making the effort.

Firm favourites amongst the team are Kathmandu II for Indian, Daruma Ramen for Japanese, and Miss Saigon for Vietnamese, which can be found in the more residential areas. All offer street food that is authentic to their regional heritage and represent great value for money.

Daruma Ramen

Expect an authentic Japanese experience, sitting close to your neighbouring diners. Daruma Ramen’s bowls of tonkatsu goodness will blow your socks off if you take the hottest options. (There are vegan options too of course...)

Kathmandu II

At Ibiza Town's famed Nepalese eatery, Kathmandu II, you can nibble on crispy poppadoms and huge buttery naans while you enjoy a selection of perfectly spiced Indian dishes.

Miss Saigon

Small but perfectly formed, Miss Saigon’s French-influenced Vietnamese cuisine offers more subtle flavours and is renowned for its quality, great service and atmosphere.
