Nominees out for the revived DJ Awards

The industry bash takes place at Club Chinois on 2 October.

Originally founded in 1998, the DJ Awards makes a triumphant return this summer following a four-year hiatus.

Taking place on Wednesday 2 October at Club Chinois, the DJ Awards seeks to recognise high achievement from the whole sector, platforming the best of the best across multiple genre categories.

Regarded as 'an Oscars for electronic dance music', the industry bash is in new ownership after being acquired by Andy Grant.

The theme for this first edition of the relaunched awards is Unity, reflecting the need to bring people together, to celebrate our differences, to create new bonds between people from all backgrounds and different areas of the music industry.

Andy had this to say about the forthcoming ceremony: "I remember Ibiza Spotlight when it first launched online - one year after the DJ Awards was created. It was the same year that Sky TV aired Ibiza Uncovered and changed the island and its fortunes forever.

That was before smartphones were a thing, which then changed the way we accessed content online and the internet.

So much has changed since the DJ Awards and Ibiza Spotlight were created, but one thing remains true of both of them: they were both there at the start, they have played a massive role in how Ibiza and the global dance music scene have evolved and are both integral to Ibiza's history.

I can't wait to show the world what my team and I have in store for the reboot of this iconic Ibiza project."

Alongside the public vote, there will also be industry awards including a focus on the White Isle with Ibiza Track of the Summer, Ibiza Icon and Ibiza Party of the Summer. Professionals from the Association For Electronic Music (AFEM) sit on the judging panel.
