We'll always say yes when it comes to a day of thrills on the water, especially when it involves some of the most picturesque locations in the world. So when Es Vedrà Charter invited us to enjoy two of their sensational tours taking in Cala Comte, Atlantis & Es Vedrà, we jumped at the chance.
On arrival at the kiosk in San Antonio, the EVC team split us into two groups, the younger ones would be on the jet ski tour and the rest would be on the more leisurely boat tour. Normally, these are different excursions but today we would all ride together and, after a quick safety briefing and a detailed rundown of the itinerary, we were off!
On the boat, we got comfortable with cool drinks and music to accompany the perfect day and soon the 300-horsepower engines had us flying towards Conejera Island and Cala Comte.
The beauty of the west coast seen from the boat already indicated that the day was going to be unforgettable.
Leaving Cala Comte, we made our first stop: a huge cave close to Cala Codolar which once was used by pirates to offload their contraband. There's even a tunnelled staircase leading to the top of the cliffs above.
Resuming our course, the captain again opened up the throttle and headed to the famous spot known as Atlantis (Sa Pedrera).
On arriving at Atlantis, we anchored below Sa Pedrera - the quarry from which rock was mined to build Ibiza Town back in the early 1800s. We had some lunch and then quickly got into the snorkelling gear and got the SUP out. The water here is breathtakingly clear and the perfect place for a swim.
While some of us were enjoying the crystal-clear waters, others had fun with the jet skis. After some time, we lifted anchor and continued our excursion to what would be, for us, the most interesting part: sailing along the lesser-known side of the island of Es Vedrà, its southwest side.
Approaching this enigmatic 300-metre-high rock, it increasingly captured our attention. Having it towering above you leaves you with a sense of awe and, on this day, we were also blessed with a very special treat of seeing three huge manta rays, right next to the boat!
From here, we began our return and on the way back, we stopped again at Cala Comte to enjoy another swim and a play on the jet skis in the calm waters just off one of Cala Comte's sheltered bays.
Alas, time was almost up and we happily enjoyed a cold beer while cruising home and taking in all that we had experienced on this amazing day. When we all arrived back at the port together, the jet-ski crews were absolutely buzzing with excitement.
Without a doubt, it was the perfect end to an adventure in Ibiza... To book your Es Vedrà Charter adventure head to their website.
