Ibiza club rewind | Pacha

The best sets from years gone by.

Pacha has been doing the business since 1973. Even for those who maths isn't a strong point, should be able to work out that made last summer a particularly special year. Ibiza's original super-club turned the ripe ol' age of 50 years old!

Sculpted in the vision of Ricardo Urgell, Pacha and its cherries logo became a symbol of sophistication and liberation.

Today, the former finca and the rest of the Pacha empire are under the watchful eye of the affable new hands-on CEO, Aloki Batra. Dance music legend Pete Tong also sits on the board of directors.

The building has undergone expansion and structural changes, but still radiates the hippy nature of its origins.

Our Ibiza club rewind series looks back at some of Pacha's key contributors in recent years. These are sets that capture the vibe of the club and its beautiful clientele.

Bedouin | Saga | 24 May 2023

Saga is the intoxicating musical journey orchestrated by renowned DJ duo Bedouin.

Promising a spellbinding experience from a pair of electronic music enthusiasts to a dancefloor full of them, Saga's hosts intertwine their cultural roots of Jordanian and Egyptian heritage. The party began at Beachouse, before moving to HEART Ibiza and finally Pacha in 2022.

Taking international clubbers on a Middle Eastern journey, Rami and Tamer have made Saga the go-to party in the middle of the week. This set recorded at their 2023 opening party gives a good account of what the night entails.

Their set features selections from Fred Again.., Skrillex and Four Tet, as well as remixes by AMÉMÉ and Nic Fanciulli.

Solomun + 1 | 27 June 2014

In 2014, the Solomun juggernaut was still amassing fans and finding momentum. Although the party was well on its way to attaining superstar status, few could have predicted the level of success it would find.

Relive an early incarnation of the party, where German duo andhim were Solomun's guests.

An hour of andhim, followed by an hour of vintage Solomun, containing music by Matthew Dear, Fur Coat and Adriatique.

Luciano | Vagabundos | 20 May 2016

Before Solomun was even a thought, from 2010 to 2012 Sunday nights at Pacha belonged to Lucien Luciano and his Cadenza tribe.

Luciano was one of an exodus of stars, following the departure of programmer Danny Whittle in winter 2012. The truth is, there will always be an affinity between Pacha and Luciano. It came as no surprise when Vagabundos returned for a brief spell in 2016. The magic was still there.

This three and a half hour homecoming set features music from Pete Heller, Frankie Knuckles and Four Tet. The energy on the dancefloor speaks for itself.

The future

2024 is going to be huge for Pacha and the wider group, as new Dubai-based owner FIVE Holdings gets its first full summer in control. The landmark celebrations are already underway, following the Marco Carola-led Grand Opening Party on Friday 26 April.

His own Music On reclaims Fridays, while Platinum-selling duo CAMELPHAT continue on Tuesdays, Bedouin stay on Wednesdays with Saga, Robin Schulz is back on Thursdays with Pure Pacha and another Solomun +1 campaign is set for Sundays, albeit starting later than usual.

The big news is beloved hippy staple Flower Power makes an audacious move to prime time Saturday nights. The party gets a top-to-bottom overhaul in the process, with four themed "episodes" and a completely new music policy that moves it into the modern era.

Mondays are also a bit new, with Pacha Presents inviting guest hosts on rotation.

There's also a series of early-season dates leading us up the start of the weekly residencies, including an already completely SOLD OUT KEINEMUSIK date. Fear not, though, there's plenty of other attractive takeovers. Dixon, Loco Dice, Adriatique, Ben Böhmer and Kölsch all star.

Plus, as ever, you can experience that world renowned Pacha service at Destino.

With Pacha still basking in the afterglow of 2023's giddy 50th anniversary celebrations and the €300+ million buy-out, expect the Pacha empire and its ambitions to continue soaring.
