How to do the perfect girls' getaway to Ibiza

Top tips for planning the ultimate island break - with a feminine touch...

Choosing the ideal destination for your girl’s getaway can be a conundrum. We know that the bigger the holiday gang, the harder it is to agree on a location that satisfies every person's desire. However, any search for #ibiza will present a stream of envy-inducing scenes, bound to swing the final decision in the island’s favour.

Whether it's for a weekend getaway or a week-long jaunt, your time can be crammed with Ibiza adventures that will be forever recited. Though, with such a vast array of options for where to stay and what to do, it can be a little tricky to know which should make the final cut for you and your crew.

In this article, we’ll focus on recommendations for girl-friendly locations for those with a little more stretch in their purse strings.

STAYING

Sometimes we need more than just a 'comfortable' base to come back to and luckily Ibiza is not short on swish accommodation to choose from.

If the beachfront is what you’re looking for, then Nobu Hotel Ibiza Bay, Hotel Torre del Mar and Ushuaïa Ibiza Beach Hotel are all luxury locations close to the dancefloors of Ibiza's finest clubs, while the El Hotel Pacha offers an advantageous location next to Marina Botafoch and the glitz and glamour of Pacha nightclub.

On the island's west side, The Beach Star Ibiza is a bustling Bay hangout for those wanting cool pool vibes, while in San Antonio town the picture-perfect Wi-Ki-Woo Hotel owns a prime-time location for those all-important sunset shots.

Just around the corner, Ibiza Rocks Hotel is perfect for wild girls who really do just wanna have fun, with pool parties laid on every day.

Ladies love to be pampered, so check out our Spa and Wellness Hotel Guide or, for those taking a break from the kids, our Adults-only Hotel Guide has got you covered.

For a longer stay of a week or more, renting a villa might become the cost-effective option. We have a wide range of super-deluxe villas that can host up to 12. You could even hire a private chef to cater for you or get a guy in to administer relaxing massages beside the pool.

CHILLING

Craving some beach-club chic? Then Playa d'en Bossa’s beautiful array of beach clubs is yours to luxuriate in. You can spend long, lazy days soaking up the sun at Coco Beach, Tanit Beach Ibiza, Beachouse and Nassau Beach Club. All offer sumptuous, white-clothed daybeds in front of the sea with waiter service and a musical backdrop to keep your toes tapping.

The best in poolside relaxation can be found at Nikki Beach Ibiza near Santa Eulalia, which offers deluxe lounging for ladies who want to be entertained as they chill. Destino Pacha Resort is an indulgent cherry on the cake, with stylish adult-only recreation around the pool at its prestigious dwelling in Cap Martinet.

PAMPERING

Massage, Turkish Hammams, hydrotherapy centres and facials are the order of the day during a girl's trip away, and a great way to release any post-party stresses. All this, plus sumptuous surroundings and jaw-dropping scenery can be found at some of our favourite slices of island heaven.

Top of our indulgence list are the beautiful Pure Seven Spa at 7Pines Resort Ibiza on the West Coast, Beldon Wellness at BLESS Hotel in Cala Nova and the northern Six Senses Resort and Spa. Pure bliss.

Ibiza has become a popular location for wellness retreats. Many are privately run and hosted by wellness gurus who bring their expertise in yoga, fitness, nutrition and the holistic arts to the island, for weekend or week-long immersions on the quieter sides of the island.

DAY TRIPS AND ACTIVITIES

Ibiza isn’t all party, party, party. There are plenty of outdoor group activities for you and your friends to enjoy.

You must have been living underneath a rock if you’re yet to hear of our stunning little sister island, Formentera. She's a beauty and can be easily explored in a day with the Aquabus Ferry Service, which departs regularly from Ibiza Town or on a boat trip with lunch served on board.

Does a sunset celebration sound like the right way to top off your day trip here? Then Formentera With Benefits at Ibiza Boat Club is a fantastic option. After dropping you at the port, you have 6 hours on the beautiful Formentera, before being slowly taxied back to Ibiza with an open bar, music, food and beautiful views.

Top up your tan without any interruptions by chartering your own private boat trip. Probably the ultimate Ibiza experience! Why not hire a Jetski or paddle board and show off your skills? For those feeling daring, we have a long list of watersport options here.

If you like the idea of the wind in your hair but prefer to stay on land, then you could explore the beauty of the island on quad bikes, buggies or even on foot. Some incredible guided walks and hikes are available for the ultimate finish-line group photo.  Depending on your energy levels, there’s a lot to choose from in our guide to excursions and activities.

SHOPPING

With so many boutiques and markets across the island, it would be rude not to spend at least some time hunting out a holiday bargain or two.

Take a trip to one of the famed markets, such as Las Dalias, Punta Arabi, Cala Llonga and San Juan on a Sunday where you’ll find bustling lanes filled with independent brands, art pieces, handmade jewellery, music and food. It's a great way to immerse yourself in the hippy side of Ibiza.

Ibiza is also home to beautiful boutiques. Head to Santa Gertrudis to become an Ibiza-style icon and to Ibiza Town where the shopping goes on until late into the night.

EATING

Ibiza is simply abundant in incredible restaurants - all bringing their own flavours and tantalising tastes to the table. From handmade pizzas to the freshest fish and seafood to worldwide international cuisine, you have an indulgent menu of decisions before you.

For beachside, sandy toed-dining experiences Aiyanna Ibiza in Cala Nova Bay couples its fresh food with amazing sea views. The fresh Mediterranean and Asian fusion menu at Tuk-Tuk is a favourite and comes at a reasonable price. For a little sandy sophistication, Tropicana Ibiza Beach Club offers Ibizan seafood dishes and an excellent wine menu.

Asian food fans will love Nagai Ibiza and Bambuddha, both in beautiful surroundings near to Santa Gertrudis and offering their fusion menus filled with 'MediterrAsian' delights. Over in San Antonio Chi Kee Wun has honed the art of imaginative and moreish Chinese cuisine.

A great way to dine and sample the local culture is through one of the many great tapas restaurants on the island. Have a read of our Tapas Guide to give you some food for thought.

PARTYING

No matter what your schedule, a spin on a world-famous dancefloor is a right of passage for any trip to Ibiza.

Sun-seeking daytime dancers love a table at O Beach Ibiza. Every day is a glitzy pool party in this beautiful open-air venue. Or, if you want to catch those big names at your roof-off party, then the unstoppable Ushuaïa never misses a trick.

Get your evening started with pre-drinks at Itaca in San Antonio, which is ever popular with the ladies, or at Rio Ibiza with its 1st-floor dancefloor overlooking the town’s marina. In Playa d’en Bossa, Dunes and Tantra are two of the hottest bars to begin your night’s festivities.

Cova Santa is another glamorous hotspot, with excellent evening parties that are ideal for groups who don’t want to stay up too late.

For those that only come alive after the clock strikes 12, then Eden in San Antonio, with its diverse party line-up, offers enough to keep everyone on their toes. Or, go full glam at the gorgeous Club Chinois, which always brings the glitz and a big-name line-up to the marina of Ibiza Town.

When only a wild night will do, then elrow at Amnesia is like a Mad Hatter’s tea party and for disco divas, there’s only one place to go, Glitterbox at Hï Ibiza on Sunday nights.

Also in Playa d'en Bossa, the Reggaeton and Hip-Hop nights at SWAG Ibiza are full of flavour and girls often get in for free. So look out for their Ladies Nights.

Finally...

As well as having the time of your life, do remember it's always important to be careful especially when out at night. It's easy to get carried away and lose common sense in the moment. You're on a girls' holiday, so try to stick together.

Don’t let anyone in your group go and get cash out in the middle of the night on their own and, if you are going to split up, then stay in twos or threes. Be safe and savvy.

We love to get our expensive phones out for the essential holiday snapshots, but please be aware of prying eyes when putting them away. Mobile phone theft is one of the most common (and inconvenient) crimes on Ibiza. Keep them close.

There you have it, a great selection of things to do for just you and the girls. So, pack your most fabulous beachwear and night outfits and prepare for the best Ibiza blast ever!
