Party preview | El Cielo presents CAMELPHAT at 528 Ibiza

The next takeover in Pacha's Benimussa Hills series is going to be off the scale.

About El Cielo by Pacha

As part of its extensive plans for its 50th anniversary year, Pacha Ibiza has teamed with the leaseholder and landlord of 528 Ibiza to bring a series of outdoor parties called El Cielo. Heavenly in name, design and execution, these parties showcase Pacha's biggest DJs.

After an opening party with RÜFÜS DU SOL last month, El Cielo continues with a pair of shows from Solomun's Diynamic Outdoors and the next date with CAMELPHAT on 11 August.

Want to know more? We answer the big questions: when? where? who? why? and how?

When?

Friday 11 August, 18:00 to midnight

Ibiza boasts incredible parties from late April to mid-October, but if we're forced to use the phrase "prime time" then it would be early August, when the temperature and crowds are at their height and daytime partying comes into its own.

It also happens to fall on the tail-end of the timeframe affectionately known as "Scouse Week" - a period at the start of August that is traditionally favoured by young holidaymakers from the Merseyside area of England. So expect rapturous local support from fellow Liverpudlians.

Where?

Formerly the holding pen of the legendary anthropomorphic party The Zoo Project (back when it was known as Benimussa Park/Gala Nights), 528 Ibiza has enjoyed a mixed couple of years.

A sprawling outdoor estate in Benimussa Hills near Ses Païsses on the outskirts of San Antonio, 528 was taken on by hospitality expert Andy McKay (MANUMISSION, Ibiza Rocks and Pikes) in summer of 2021 and initially trialled a cabaret and fine-dining concept.

Now seemingly back to doing what it does best - throwing festival-like parties in a magical location, we're excited to see how 528 and El Cielo evolve together over the course of the season.

Who?

Fresh from storming their brand new Tuesday night Pacha residency, CAMELPHAT take a trip to the other side of the island for one night only. In doing so, they land right on the doorstep of their biggest customer base.

Each year is seemingly bigger than the last for Dave Whelan and Mike Di Scala with 2023 set to eclipse the previous 12 months. That starts with a bucket load of new music, from artists who don't stop producing music.

A follow-up studio album to 2020's Silver-certified LP Dark Matter is ready and waiting for release later this year.

Already this summer, attendees at Pacha on Tuesdays have been among the first to hear brand new tracks as CAMELPHAT continue their exploration of Progressive House and Melodic Techno. This eerie sound, under the moon and stars, with flashing lights and dry ice rising, paints quite a picture.

Why?

We'll make this quick and easy. Because...

  • CAMELPHAT's new Pacha residency has been a total success - this gives you the chance to catch them play outdoors and in an incredible location
  • not far to travel for those staying or living in San Antonio or San Antonio Bay - very convenient
  • free shuttle bus for ticket holders travelling via San Antonio bus station to the venue's front door - no need to pay for taxis
  • get to experience the thrill of the old Zoo Project parties and understand why they are still talked about in such glowing terms
  • a festival-esque experience right here on Ibiza with a big stage and lighting, first under the sun and later under the stars
  • hot food options available on-site
  • warm-up acts Patrice Bäumel and Brina Knauss are both amazing DJs in their own right and well worth checking out in case they aren't already on your radar
  • if you missed CAMELPHAT at IMS Grand Finale at Dalt Vila in April, this will make up for it. Anybody who went then, will already be making plans
