Myke Towers closes Ushuaïa's Latin Sundays with a bang

The Reggaeton phenomena ain't going nowhere.

Event specialist The Night League has done it again! Another massively successful Latin party at Ushuaïa - the last announced one for 2023. Lyricist Myke Towers amazed his loyal fans on Sunday 16 July with a sizzling live performance on the stage of the famous party hotel.

Seemingly endless queues were already stretched around the outside of the venue an hour before the doors were due to open at 18:00. Everybody was desperate to get the best spot in front of the stage to be as close as possible to the Puerto Rican megastar.

The heat was intense and being there from the very beginning, it felt as though the sun was never going down. The ice cubes in our drinks weren't even lasting a minute, but it was totally worth the wait.

All of the warm-up acts played their role in setting the mood prior to the main event, including a rambuctious showing from Bad Gyal. Each one cranked up the anticipation with a selection of well-known Reggaeton hits.

Myke, who has amassed an incredible five billion streams on Spotify and has collaborated with notable peers such as Bad Bunny, J Balvin, Cardi B, Anitta, Ozuna, Sebastián Yatra, Rauw Alejandro, Nicki Nicole, took to the stage at 21:30. By this point the crowd were frenzied.

Despite the heat, Myke treated us to a full-blooded concert right the way until curfew at 23:00. All his new releases and greatest hits, many sung in chorus by the audience who were able to dance, fan themselves and hold their phones up high at the same time. Multi-tasking to the max.

We heard Bandido, Ella no es Tuya, La Curiosidad and Lala, and sang our hearts out with passion for each one.

It was a surprise to see so many different nationalities represented enjoying the party. In contrast to previous concerts, headlined by the likes of Bizarrap, Maluma and Arcángel, where it felt that the public was mainly Spanish and Latin American crowd, this event felt very mixed.

We loved meeting a group of young Dutch guys who not only recognised all the songs but even risked joining in with the lyrics too. This at least proves that the Reggaeton phenomena has reached northern Europe. We weren't kiddin' when we said world domination is underway.

Ushuaïa's run of Latin Sunday concerts has now drawn to a close for summer 2023. On this basis, we anticipate them returning in 2024. You can bet your bottom dollar, Puerto Rican or otherwise, to be sure of that. Reggaeton is just too huge to be going anywhere, anytime soon.
