Here at Ibiza Spotlight, we love DJ culture, obviously! But we also love the thrill of live music. Those things don't necessarily have to be mutually exclusive. One venue that does them both especially well is Las Dalias and Akasha in the north of Ibiza.
The former hippy commune in San Carlos has a long history with acoustic and experimental music. What with Ibiza being the island of dance music, it has been happy to adopt electronic style too. Its day-to-night Sunday sessions are a clear example of this.
However, this coming Friday 1 September, one of electronic music's most compelling live performers headlines its club night. Joined by Valentín Huedo and Sena playing DJ sets, Jan Blomqvist is the one-man band in question.
Known for his introspective lyrics, social observations and talented synth work, he is an emotive and multi-disciplined musician.
Jan has played all over the island, including Hï Ibiza, Pacha, Cova Santa and Club Chinois. Now he gets to add Akasha to his list. We can't think of a better start to the month.
Throughout the rest of September, you can catch names such as Anthony Middleton from Audiofly, Christina Burkhardt, Animal Trainer, Sebastian Mullaert and unders across Friday and Saturday nights. Each edition promises a wealth of musical riches.

The month, and indeed the summer programme at Akasha, culminates with the return of Beat Hotel on the last day of the month.
Don't fret too much. Akasha will be staying open at weekends leading us into the cooler months, even when all of the other clubs on the island are shutting up shop for winter.
