Ibiza opening weekend DJ sets on our radar

The Ibiza Spotlight clubbing team make our top picks.

After six months relative stillness, Ibiza gets back to business this weekend. A full programme of parties awaits and the Ibiza Spotlight club team are chomping at the bit. With so much going on, we've all picked our highlights from the coming days. Are you joining us at any?

Jaguar B2B TAAHLIAH | IMS Grand Finale | Dalt Vila | Friday 28 April

chosen by Jo Dargie, Freelance Writer

First up, BBC Radio 1 host, UTOPIA founder and champion of the upcomers, Jaguar consistently strikes gold as a selector. Flexing between groove-laden beats, cutting breaks and outrageously cool vocal samples, her tastes are wide and varied.

Meanwhile, wavemaker TAAHLIAH sits on the other end of the spectrum. From experience, her live sets are rife with high-octane, dark Techno of the finest order, whilst her productions are sonically intuitive and abstract. Oh, and it only feels right to support a fellow Scot.

This combo caught me off guard, however, I am truly excited by the prospects of this unexpected back-to-back, especially in such a gorgeous location as Dalt Vila overlooking the Mediterranean. IMS Grand Finale delivers the goods. MORE INFO | BUY TICKETS

Defected | Eden Ibiza by Mario Pinta

Ferreck Dawn | Defected | Eden | Friday 28 April

chosen by Hayley Morgan, Clubbing Social Media Manager

Famed worldwide clubbing brand, Defected has become a weekend home for the Ibiza's young ravers. Its dedication to House driven beats and uplifting vocals has led it to be a Friday night go-to for both island regulars and newbies seeking an authentic clubbing experience.

I've been a big fan of Ferreck Dawn since his track In My Arms became a bit of an Ibiza anthem for me last summer. Despite him playing multiples times last season in Ibiza, I missed all of his appearances and had to settle for Spotify renditions.

Now, I'm looking forward to putting that right over opening weekend and seeing him up-close and in action at Eden. MORE INFO | BUY TICKETS

Chris Stussy | The Signal | Hï Ibiza | Saturday 29 April

chosen by Lissy Lübeck, Community Relations Liaison

TikTok, Instagram, you name it - Chris Stussy is the DJ everyone wants a piece of, and an artist who has dance music fans in the palm of his hands, as we yearn for every track ID. Oh, to have access to his USB stick...

Mixmag Lab London by Louis Nesbitt

I'll confess, I'm amongst the repeat offenders who've had his 2018 S.A.S.H. set on loop ever since it got uploaded. I was gassed to interview the man himself before his instant-classic Mixmag Lab set that blew up the internet (keep your eye out for that interview - coming soon!)

All things considered, I think it's fair to categorise myself as a Stussy fangirl. Being back on my favorite island and being able to see one of my favorite artists perform at DJ Mag's world's number one club, Hï Ibiza is going to be pretty special.

Damian Lazarus | CR20 20 Years of Crosstown Rebels | Akasha | Sunday 30 April

chosen by Stephen Hunt, Clubbing Editor

Twenty years is a lifetime in music. Given how quickly trends come and go, to be at the forefront for that time is staggering. Damian Lazarus has taken Crosstown Rebels to the top and it's only right we honour the label reaching that landmark.

He's done as much as anybody for pushing the underground on Ibiza. Imagine my delight when news of his one-off special at remote northern outpost, Akasha, was announced.

Although I can catch him every Saturday at his Hï Ibiza Club Room residency, seeing him in the intimacy of Akasha, playing from the booth in the centre of the club with the San Carlos crowd - that is an unmissable opportunity.

For me, this will be up there with his legendary sets in the Tulum jungle and Nevada desert. MORE INFO | BUY TICKETS
