Techno tour de force Ida Engberg has announced a brand new Ibiza residency called Mystik. In doing so, she becomes one of the first women to ever front her own party on the island.
Taking place at Club Chinois in well-to-do Ibiza Marina on Tuesdays, Mystik gets underway on 30 May. The closing party is set for 26 September.
Last year, she started her journey with Club Chinois by taking the reins on Tuesdays halfway through summer. This time it's a little different, as she gets full creative control for a project in her own right.
Thanks to her unbridled passion, contagious energy and natural talent, Ida has set the benchmark for women in electronic music in a career that's been everything but standard.
Just as she has done all her career, this new venture promises to break myths, overcome barriers, dispel prejudices, debunk preconceptions, end stereotypes and exceed expectations.
Scandalously, very few women have ever fronted their own party here.
Magdalena previously threw Shadows at Cova Santa and Amelie Lens has just announced a second short run with Exhale at DC10. Going further back, Tania Vulcano has a long association with Circoloco , as did Jo Mills before her. Charlys Angelz (Vicky Devine and Sophie Sugar) even ran an all-girl night at Summum in San Antonio Bay.
But still, these are exceptions to the rule and it's high time the prevailing current changed.
Hopefully, Ida Engberg's newfound appointment can be a catalyst for the future. We look forward to getting stuck in.
Already, she has unveiled a first wave of artists joining her, including some fellow female bosses. The list includes Nicole Moudaber, who recently released Ida's Tribute To Orange Clouds, ANNA, Cassy, Francesca Lombardo, Brina Knauss, Layla Benitez, Anna Tur and more.
