Launching in 2008 on the site of the former Hotel Club Paraiso, Ibiza Rocks was conceived to showcase the very best in guitar-led music. It achieved that and a whole lot more, flying-in the biggest bands in the world from Arctic Monkeys to LCD Soundsystem, The Prodigy to CHIC.
Over the years, it started to add more parties, starting with We Are Rockstars which switched the focus to bass music and electronic acts. This addition hinted at a new future direction for the venue, but who could have guessed how things would turn out back then?
By 2018, the island's party scene had changed immeasurably. Daytime partying was now king. Always evolving and moving with the times, Ibiza Rocks made a 180 degree turn and went down the DJ route.
Since then, it hadn't looked back... until now, that is! (more about that later)
Now let's dive into the archive and find out what Ibiza Rocks is all about.
Charlie Hedges | LoveJuice Ibiza | 2023
BBC Radio 1 Dance Anthem hostess Charlie Hedges headlined for LoveJuice during its debut season at Ibiza Rocks. True to the name and output of her radio show, anthems she certainly delivered.
LoveJuice is back at Ibiza Rocks in 2025, extending its number of dates once again. While we await news of which DJs will be joining residents George Mensah and Sammy Porter at poolside, let's remind ourselves of how good dance classics sound in the sun.
You will hear classic tracks from Avicii, Rune RK, Cascada and Darude.
SUAT | Cuckoo Land | 2022
Since day one, Ibiza Rocks has set out to offer something different to the island's dancefloors. Diversity has been central to its programme. The bookers don't just track the obvious ringers. Trust us, these guys have their finger on the pulse and are quick to take a chance on rising acts.
Take guerrilla DJ and mall cop-bothering viral sensation SUAT as one clear example.
The internet jokester gained a cult following during lockdown by taking his music to the street and live-streaming it all - often with hilarious and confrontational results. But the idea to bring him to Ibiza and dump him at the poolside with the inmates was a stroke of genius.
Well played Ibiza Rocks! Always thinking outside the box.
The Libertines | 2015
You always hold a flame for your first love... After a seven year absence, live music is back at the "home of the pool party" in 2025 with Ibiza Rocks Presents. In honour of that welcome news, we're reliving a highlight from ten years ago.
The Libertines headline performance from 2015 was typical of the on-stage scenes and crowd reaction that made Ibiza Rocks famous in the first place. We cannot wait to see guitar heroes and iconic frontmen take to the stage once again.
Roll on mid-June, when the action starts.
Fast-forward
This summer, the party hotel has its earliest ever opening date of 27 March. While the music programme takes a few weeks to get going, after the Opening Party on 30 April, it's all systems go with daily pool parties.
The aforementioned Ibiza Rocks Presents doesn't fire up the amp until peak summer, so there are still parties to fill either side of it on Wednesdays.
Apart from those outstanding mysteries, the rest of the line-up is complete.
London favourite LoveJuice is back on Saturdays, while Ibiza Anthems switches from Fridays to Thursdays. There's new additions in the form of Monday's Daydreamers (fans of former party Cuckoo Land should pay attention to that) and Sunday's R&B Affair - a natural replacement for the departing Applebum.
Tuesdays and Fridays go back to basics with the eponymous Pool Days and, let's face it, you'd don't exactly need a hard-sell on why dancing and drinking around a pool in your swimwear is one of life's simple pleasures.
Things wrap up on 1 October with a Closing Party, but we're not thinking about that just yet. We've only summer firmly in our sights. Vamos!
