One of the best clubs in the world, Amnesia is a place where clubbers unite from across the globe. Nowhere is that truer, than at flagship party Pyramid. Walking in, the dancefloor is already packed for the final Sunday night of the Ibiza 2022 season.
The party's production authentically defines Techno.
Simple yet striking lasers complement the principal symbol of the night: the geometric neon pyramid. Since we are in the island's temple known as Amnesia, this is fitting. Effectively, this is the holy grail for any Techno music fan who finds themselves here.
Italian DJ and producer Luca Donzelli eases early entrants in nicely in the Main Room, with feel-good tribal sounds. Before long, the Amnesia resident hands over to Lilly Palmer, who ramps the tempo up as we hurtle towards peak time.
The room’s low lighting helps create an exciting atmosphere in the Main Room, mimicking an industrial warehouse. Lilly carries us nicely into Helena Hauff's set around the 02:45 mark.
Known for her rough and raw sound, Hauff goes back to basics with brutal acidic tones trademarking her set.
Over on The Terrace, clubbers huddle under the green triangle as the deep, atmospheric beats align with Amnesia's troupe of dancers as they take the stage.
One of Amnesia's most recognised faces, Mar-T, is playing followed by tINI. Always one for originality, the German DJ keeps things underground with a heady fusion of House and Techno. The crowd loves every moment, punctuating the air with thrown-up hands and whistles.
It feels as though the size of the dancefloor doubles, as we eagerly anticipate one of the most renowned back-to-back combos to ever grace Amnesia.
When Luciano and Ricardo Villalobos approach the decks, the mood shifts. Something washes over the crowd – almost the sense of homecoming.
We imagine this must be the same feeling for Ricardo and Luciano themselves. Both legends have been coming to the island since the '90s. With Luciano's jittery and melodic style alongside the marvelled idiosyncrasies of Villalobos, the back-to-back hits all frequencies.
In their final hour, broken beats and high hats divert us on a different musical course.
Finally the music fades out, leaving nothing but a green strobe and a distinct frequency resonating in the air. Not only the night, but the season, is complete, and we are left blown away by the spectacle.
Holding such a togetherness for clubbers with a deep-rooted passion for the music, Pyramid is not only defined by its sound but by its visuals and the stronghold of its crowd.
Pyramid closing stepped up to the mark. We can't wait to see what's in store for Amnesia's flagship production in 2023.
