October has arrived and is tinged with sadness that the Ibiza 2022 season, our first proper summer in two years, is almost over. We're not feeling too glum about it though. Firstly, we're all looking forward to a well earned break. At least for a few weeks.
More importantly, closing party season is in full swing and, as such, is presenting some salivating DJ sets. Every party from here on out is going to be full on. No half measures.
Wherever you go, whoever you see play, you're in for a treat. That made these selections hard, but we think we're happy with our choices.
Chances are, you are have your clubbing itinerary firmly mapped. On the off chance you're still debating where and when, maybe these pointers will help you decide.
Move D | PIV closing party | Amnesia | Tuesday 4 October
picked by Lissy
First, a rare Ibiza siting. It's not everyday you see Move D on a white isle line-up.
Known for his ambient Techno productions, the German underground talent is a highly respected DJ amongst ravers and his peers alike. Not only is he a first-class vinyl spinner, he always brings something different to the decks than the usual.
Whilst PIV is usually held at Cova Santa, the popularity of the closing party now means it'll take place at Amnesia. Personally, I've only ever seen the man himself play at a couple of boutique UK festivals, so to see him perform in one of the island's biggest clubs, feels like a once in a lifetime opportunity for me. AMÉMÉ | Paradise closing party | Amnesia | Wednesday 5 October
picked by Hayley
Perhaps I've not been as frequent a visitor to Paradise as my colleagues, and yet it's been a party who's line-ups I've often cooed over. Midweek wash-out always seems to scupper my attendance. However, I'll be having words with myself for this week's grand finale.
AMÉMÉ and Joseph Capriati have long been on my list to see play, while Richy Ahmed always brings it every time I see him. All that bouncing about and the cheeky grin as he brings in another hand raiser, is enough to get me back again.
Plus, as winter looms around the corner one must stop making excuses and remember, you can sleep when you're dead... or, at least, when I'm cold with nothing else to do. Amnesia here I come. I'll be getting in the mood by listening to AMÉMÉ's Deep House playlist takeover.
Gerd Janson | Flash | Pikes | Thursday 6 October
picked by Steve
Few DJs excite me as much as Gerd Janson. The Running Back label boss and Music For Autobahns mix master is one of House music's most cherished assets. Already this summer he has delighted at Pacha, Amnesia and DC10.
Maybe, just maybe, his best appearance has been reserved for last. He is the special guest as Guy Williams' Flash takes up tenure one last time at Pikes.
If we were going to talk about fantasy pairings, then Gerd inside Freddies is right up there. He feels custom made for that disco. Intimate and attracting a clue-up crowd with sweat dripping from the walls, I'm getting giddy just thinking about it.
Seeing as it won't cost you a penny in tickets, I make that a no-brainer. Guestlist is essential, and can be requested through the Pikes' website.
Peggy Gou | Hï Ibiza Closing Party | Saturday 8 October
picked by Steve
Peggy Gou has kept her Ibiza 2022 appearances limited. Less is more, maybe. Save for the DC10 opening party and a midsummer rooftop set at TRS Hotel for Beatport at sunset, she's proven rather elusive. It wasn't that long ago she was being touted for her own Ibiza residency.
Peggy has amassed a cult following and we could definitely see a residency come to pass in future summers. Combining music, fashion and art under a dotty aura, what's not to love? I'm thrilled that she's back for closings, with the Hï Ibiza Closing Party being the party in question.
Verdict is still out on the divisive Kylie Minogue remix for me, but that doesn't put me off in the slightest. Each time I've seen her play in the past, she has always bossed it and pulled out some audacious track selections. Hï Ibiza's Closing Party will be no exception, I'm sure.
Solomun | Solomun +1 | Pacha | Sunday 9 October
picked by Hayley
Earlier this summer, I managed to catch Solomun at Destino and he was pretty incredible. On the night some driving Techno was exactly what was needed and, boy, did he deliver.
As I loitered around the DJ booth trying to get a smile, I realised it’s not just the stomping music he plays, but also the presence he commands. Maybe it's his long flowing hair, his six foot plus stature or his funny hand gesture as a drop comes but he owns it - and I kinda like it.
I'm looking forward to seeing him once again at a crowd level stage, this time at Pacha. I shall try not to lurk too much, take my work-head off and enjoy the night exactly as it's meant to be.
Calvin Clark B2B Ale de Tuglie | Music On | Destino | Friday 14 October
picked by Lissy
Mancunian Music On acolyte Calvin Clarke emerged onto the music scene just a few years ago, now playing at some of the most sought-after gigs across the globe.
Supporting the big man himself, Marco Carola, he's renowned for his infectious Tech House sets that you cannot help but dance to. On Friday 14 October, not only do we get Calvin Clarke, he'll be accompanied by Italian DJ/producer Ale De Tuglie. Two for the price of one.
This is an amazing opportunity to enjoy the Music On experience at Pacha's pristine sister resort, Destino. See the summer out in style. BUY TICKETS & MORE INFO
Lots there to mull over. Of course, that's just the tip of the iceberg.
