Super Sunday of live electronic music lies in store this weekend

Six live acts, three parties and one jam-packed day of music on 4 September.

Take your pick of any date during summer, and you can choose from numerous parties, catering to different tastes, across multiple clubs. Just a quick glance at our party calendar confirms as much. Those up for a party are really spoiled for choice.

That said, each year a handful of dates stand out as being extra special. This coming Sunday 4 September is one of them.

Although Ibiza has a reputation for worshipping DJ culture, this weekend a different type of performer takes the limelight.

When most people think of 'live music', they probably think of traditional vocalist or band with lead singer, guitarist and drummer. But electronic music can be performed live too and some of the biggest acts in the industry all happen to be on the island on the same day.

Super Sunday

Pyramid | Amnesia | 23:00 - 06:30

Following in the footsteps of The Chemical Brothers, Orbital and Underworld, Bicep are arguably the biggest live electronic music act on the planet right now. After playing a DJ set at Amnesia last season (2019), the duo are back, only this time performing their own material live.

Sunday night underground sanctuary Pyramid is where it will all go down. Attendees can expect Matt and Andy to recite their hits, including Glue, Apricots and Opal as well as some sneak-peak unleased records as well - we hope.

They aren't alone for the occasion. Sensational hardware dynamo KiNK will also be joining them on The Terrace. Known for impressive improv, audience interaction and science-lab gadgets, the Bulgarian is a full-blown entertainer who demands to be watched as much as heard.

Next door in the Main Room, a third and final live act materialises in the form of Dutch wonder Reinier Zonneveld. The Filth On Acid label head will be working through the tones, from Disco to Trance, Acid to Techno and building some huge dancefloor moments.

The night will also include DJ sets from Nina Kraviz, Marcel Dettmann, Special Request, Logic1000 and Airod. Now that's a stacked line-up. BUY TICKETS & MORE INFO

Ushuaïa | 17:00 - 23:00

Maverick musician Paul Kalkbrenner has become a regular fixture at Ushuaïa's opening and closing parties, very often charged with the headline slot. The crowd-puller is made for stadium-sized festival stages - and the open-air party hotel in the heart of Playa d'en Bossa ticks that box.

Having already appeared twice earlier this summer, Kalkbrenner is back on 4 September for his very own show.

Far from doing it alone, Kalkbrenner will not only be joined by melodic master HOSH, but addition support comes from fellow live act extraordinaire Stephan Bodzin.

Fellow German Bodzin is known for his dramatic, face-screwed take on Techno music. Together, both him and Paul are going to conjure lots of dancefloor euphoria, powerful drops and broken arpeggios to send the crowd wild as planes fly above.

Storytellers | Cova Santa | 17:00 - 06:00

Another outdoor party also has somewhat of a live extravaganza. This time we're with those yarn spinners Storytellers.

The special edition sees Frank Wiedemann, the live half of Âme, take centre stage at Cova Santa. While his production partner Kristian is the more commonly performing DJ under the Âme name, Frank's appearances are less frequent and involve a completely different skill set.

Adding an extra dimension to this Âme live set will be the wild card of Trikk. Frank's fellow Innervisions member will be DJing as they go back-to-back for a very unique performance.

We seldom see these adventurous combined sets, so there is a lot of intrigue about how this will go down - a true example of musical storytelling. Given each component's repertoire, this could easily go down as the most talked about party of summer.

Storytellers has always been a party that supports live music as much as DJs. In the past, it has invited names such as Acid Pauli, Monolink, Jan Blomqvist, WhoMadeWho and Rodriguez Jr.

Although this one does continue inside downstairs from 23:00 till early morning, we recommend you arrive early to experience the fun outdoorsBUY TICKETS & MORE INFO

Pyramid | Amnesia | by PHRANK

We anticipate all of these parties to prove popular. If anything, it's a shame that they all fall on the same day. While hitting two if perfectly feasible, doing all three would be a tall order but we reckon there's a few hardcore clubbers out there up for the challenge. Are you one of them?

Info on all the parties taking place this summer can be found on our party guide.
