Party islands don't come bigger than Ibiza. At what other holiday destination can you party every night and day from Easter to Halloween? No matter the day of the week, clubbers are spoilt for choice.
Yet there are still specific weekends that stand out as having that extra "wow" factor. Three or four-day stretches that we've dubbed ultimate Ibiza weekenders.
If you are looking to escape reality and dance your troubles away, nothing could be more of a getaway than an extended weekend break to Ibiza. Those in-and-out, whistle-stop breaks to the island are often our favourite type.
Jet in, drop bags, then squeeze as much partying as possible into 72 to 96 hours. Exciting.
Alternative August weekender
The first weekend in August might be the ultimate weekender. Not only is the height of peak season in terms of tourist numbers (and usually temperature as well), it's gained notoriety for being the BBC Radio 1 weekend.
If you're thinking, "that's not really a piece of me", then we can help. This guide offer suggestions of parties you will enjoy if you want to avoid the masses and the teenyboppers
Hey, there's no judging - all that carry on isn't for everybody. Perhaps it's better to describe this as the itinerary for the more mature clubber, where you're still guaranteed amazing music without the bottleneck and long queues at the bar!
For this edition, we're covering the period Thursday 4 August to Sunday 7 August.
Schedule:
Thursday 4 August | 20:00 | Sven Väth presents Catharsis, Las Dalias, San Carlos
Friday 5 August | 17:00 | Storytellers presents The Soundgarden, Cova Santa, San José
Saturday 6 August | 19:00 | Hostal La Torre, Cap Negret
Saturday 6 August | 23:59 | Luciano, Club Chinois, Ibiza Marina
Sunday 7 August | 18:00 | Camino del Sol, 528 Garden, Benimussa Hills
Sunday 7 August | 23:59 | Planet Claire, Octan, Playa d'en Bossa
Thursday | Sven Väth | Las Dalias
First up is a very special, intimate date with time-honoured veteran DJ Sven Väth. In what is shaping up to be one of the parties of summer, Sven is on double-duty. Not only will he grace the outdoor terrace at Las Dalias with an early set, but later he debuts at on-site club, Akasha.
For those yet to be initiated, Akasha is a very cosy space, but with a punchy sound system and centrally-positioned DJ booth. It really is a gem - and a great addition to the venue, which stays true to the hippy heritage of San Carlos' past.
To get Papa Sven on the biggest week of the year is massive news. We've just added more Garden tickets. Garden only ticket holders who arrive early can upgrade to club on arrival for €15 extra - subject to availability, first-come first-served. TICKETS & MORE INFO
Friday | The Soundgarden | Cova Santa
Day two and we're again making the most of the climate with an outdoor venue. This time its the gorgeous San José hillside destination of Cova Santa. The party in question is Storytellers presents The Soundgarden. Much like the day before, this is sure to attract a more mature crowd.
Reason being, is that the main draw is the dreamy back-to-back from longtime collaborators Nick Warren and Hernán Cattáneo. When they play together on the decks, both men are ideally suited to closing the outdoor stage at this magical location. TICKETS & MORE INFO
We haven't deliberately singled out DJs with the most years of activity under their belt. That said, there's few safer bets for a great night than those we've featured so far.
Saturday | Andy Baxter | Hostal La Torre
Another reliable pair of hands behind the decks is Andy Baxter. One of Ibiza's most cherished resident DJs, Andy is best known for his sunset sessions on the Sunset Strip. Slightly removed from the energy of San Antonio's coastline, is Mambo Group's sanctuary Hostal La Torre.
The boho chic outlook at Cap Negret, around the corner from Cala Gracio, is the ideal vantage point for sunset. And with Andy soundtracking the evening, well, we can hardly think of a more chilled evening. Reservations are essential for the best seats. MORE INFO
Saturday | Luciano | Club Chinois
Latin wizard Luciano has held residency all over the island. For 2022, he has taken up Saturday nights in well-to-do Ibiza Marina, namely brand new spot Club Chinois. Inviting industry friends and members of the Cadenza family, Luciano is the perfect host for the affluent crowd.
You know what you're getting with Swiss-Chilean: a night of guaranteed good music and great vibes. This weekend he is joined by Reboot and Idriss D. TICKETS & MORE INFO
Sunday | Camino del Sol | 528 Garden
Sunday evening calls for something a little slower paced, but that doesn't have to mean any less fun. For something a bit different, we wander to Benimussa Hills to experience 528 Garden. Sundays fall under the banner of Camino del Sol, which features local Flamenco musician Paco Fernandez and his band, as well as Reptilian Dysfunction-signee Aniche.
An evening spent listening to traditional Spanish music, fused with electronic and rap influences in the pine-scented landscape of Ibiza as the sun sets in the background, what could be better?
Admission is free, but if you buy a €50 ticket, you get the full value to redeem against food and drink as well as securing a table, which is otherwise not guaranteed.
Sunday | Planet Claire | Octan
Fancy one last roll of the dice? Seeing as it's your last night, you may as well...
After experiencing the best of Ibiza's outside venues, we think its time to get a bit grimy and bunker down in a basement club. The club in question being underground vault Octan.
Sunday nights is the club's ENCORE, but on this particular date we're in the hands of Apollonia for a Planet Claire takeover. tINI and Spokenn join the Parisian trio in The Basement room, while The Lab sees sets from Mason Collective and Joey Daniel.
A proper night of clubbing under the red lights awaits. Do you have the stamina? TICKETS & MORE INFO
