Season preview | CAMELPHAT are set to take Ushuaïa by storm

What to expect on Tuesday daytimes at Ushuaïa.

Award-winning duo CAMELPHAT make Ushuaïa their head-quarters for Summer 2022. With this party being one of the most anticipated of the whole season, Tuesday 14 June can't come soon enough.

It has been an ascent of god-like proportions for the duo from Merseyside. Since they started working together, Dave Whelan and Mike Di Scala have picked-up both Grammy and Ivor Novello nominations for their songwriting - including the anthemic Cola.

On the touring front, things are equally noteworthy. From Coachella to Glastonbury, Las Vegas to Croatia, there's few bigger crowd-pullers in the world right now.

Although we still have to wait a little while longer, we've already had a sneak preview of what's to come. Both CAMELPHAT and their weekly residents Solardo have already played Ushuaïa this summer, giving us a glimpse into how Tuesdays will look.

Camelphat

CAMELPHAT set off on their 2022 Ibiza journey with an epic closing set at Ushuaïa for ANTS. An eyesight into what to expect over the course of the summer, the packed out dancefloor was filled to the brim with fanatical fans.

The pair have developed a tendency for selling-out their venues, having just filled Wembley Arena with the final leg of their Dark Matter tour. With that accolade achieved, filling Ushuaïa solidly for 16 weeks presents a different kind of challenge they are sure to rise to.

Musically over the last 18-months, CAMELPHAT have shifted further into Progressive House territory and this again proved to be case. Given some of the guests who have been booked, and the reciprocal arrangements, it seems likely CAMELPHAT will continue exploring this sound.

Solardo

Manchester powerhouses Solardo also performed at ANTS earlier in May. Luring us in with a play of their 2019 track XTC, this hard-hitter really evoked a sense of exhilaration for the summer ahead.

After hosting the popular BODYWORKS night with CAMELPHAT back in 2019, playing at these super-sized clubs is just second-nature to these guys. Selling tickets to an audience of thousands is just a normal day in the office.

The boys have a big year ahead, as they further extend their Solä Label, with new offshoot Solä Eclipse - a place to nurture a darker, more underground sound. We expect to be hearing lots of this new material on Tuesdays at Ushuaïa.

CAMELPHAT & Solardo: Greater than the sum of their parts

No strangers to working closely with one another, the foursome of CAMELPHAT and Solardo have previously shared residency at Eric Pyrdz's 2018 party. After that came to a natural end, CAMELPHAT and Solardo took on his old Tuesday slot as their own the year after, turning it into an instant success.

Aside from that, they also form a mean partnership in the studio. See 2018's Accelerator as an example of the dynamism that exists between them.

They are also known to play back-to-back with each other, so we're sure we'll likely to see this feat again at some point before the end of September.

As for why they gel together so well as a unit is up for speculation. No doubt their shared link to the UK's North West is part of the factor. That they both came to prominence around a similar time is also likely to have played its part.

Whatever it is, they have a habit of getting the best from one another. CAMELPHAT and Solardo are proof that Liverpudlians and Mancunians can't just get along, but can form harmonious coalitions.

CAMELPHAT at Ushuaïa starts next week on Tuesday 14 June. Fellow TNL talents Tale Of Us will be special guests joining the hosts and Solardo at the opening party.
