Guide to Ibiza opening weekend 2022 | Part one

Headline parties Friday 29 April to Sunday 1 May.

Ready to spring into action, Ibiza 2022 becomes reality next week. That means full fanfare, Ibiza-sized production, elite international DJs (and no masks, no health pass!). With lots happening from Friday 29 April onwards, here's our handy guide of headline parties.

At the time of going to press, Pacha's Grand Opening Party (and refurb unveiling) had already sold out, proving that Solomun's name alone still carries so much weight on Ibiza. If you managed to secure tickets, well done - it's going to be an incredible night.

Hi Ibiza followed suit soon after - though if you're quick, you can still grab the last tickets for Ushuaïa. See below for more details.

Friday 29 April | IMS Grand Finale

Simultaneously both the curtain-raiser to the season and the end of International Music Summit, IMS Grand Finale is a rite of passage. Starting at 17:00 on Friday evening, the outdoor party takes place on the stunning Baluarte de Santa Lucía bastion of walled Old Town, Dalt Vila.

DJ talent for the spectacle includes Jamie Jones, The Blessed Madonna, Patrick Topping and TSHA, plus rare Ibiza appearances from Joy Orbison and Overmono.

It's not only the DJ line-up that dazzles, but the jaw dropping venue combined with the highly sought after outdoor clubbing Ibiza is famed for. How many times can you honestly say you've partied on top of 16th Century castle?

Price: €50

Why go? Mega line-up, outdoors, happens once a year, it's in a castle, be back in bed by 1AM

Friday 29 April | Pyramid pre-season party

By night, we move to Amnesia. Pyramid is a weekly Sunday party from June, but the organisers have kindly given us an early season showcase. Although it's pre-season, that has had zero detriment to the DJ line-up. In fact, the bill could easily pass as a full venue opening party.

Promising Latin magic, master of the Terrace, Luciano, is our headline act. Next door, uncompromising beats will be laid down by Ben Klock, Amelie Lens and Airod. Oh, it will be heavy doof, doof.

Do Not Sleep also hosts outdoor stage 3rd Dimension from open till 23:00. Plus, this is Amnesia's first party of 2022. Essential partying.

Price: Tiered from €45 (check-out those two free drinks with the pre-21:00 entry tickets or splash-out with balcony access)

Why go? Amnesia's first party of 2022, Luciano on the Terrace, proper Techno in the Main Room, 3rd Dimension stage outside

Saturday 30 April | Better Together

You'd better not be partied out already, because another marathon (and we mean marathon) is the next day. The joint Ushuaïa and Hï Ibiza opening party, Better Together, goes around the clock.

Ushuaïa opens from midday running until midnight. Then Hï Ibiza opens with an hours overlap, closing at some point the next morning. Highly likely this will go for 24-hours in total.

When you break it down like that, you're really getting your money's worth especially when you consider the blockbuster line-up: Adam Beyer, Black Coffee, Charlotte de Witte, The Martinez Brothers... truly A-league.

Aside from a tiny allocation being held back for the door, Ushuaïa is SOLD OUT. For Hï Ibiza standard tickets are also SOLD OUT, apart from a small allocation for the door, but there are now Special Sunrise tickets available, with entry after 06:00 in the morning. The party will continue well into Sunday morning!

Price: €50 for the Sunrise Ticket in Hï Ibiza, the only ticket still available

Why go? High-scale production, non-stop clubbing midday to midday, outdoor and indoor action, big name line-up, main event and after-party in one

Sunday 1 May | Defected at Amnesia

Sunday we return to Amnesia, this time for Defected and the final party in its own opening weekend.

This party is special since it will be Defected's only outing at Amnesia (its weekly residency is at Eden) having last thrown a party there in 2015. The line-up embodies Defected’s focused vision of being a stand-up House all-nighter.

House music all night long. Yeah, baby.

Price: €33

Why go? Final party of the opening weekend, intergenerational - Simon Dunmore plays alongside his sons the Dunmore Brothers, House, House and more House!

Party hard, eat well

All that dancing will have you burning holes in your socks - and hunger in your belly. Good news is, it's not just the clubs opening but all of Ibiza's fabulous dining spots as well.

Two establishments we can't recommend enough are rural gem Nagai in Santa Eulalia and the appropriately titled Beachouse on Playa d'en Bossa large expanse of sand.

Beautiful Beachouse (left), Eastern-inspired Nagai (right)

Enjoy traditional Mediterranean cooking with a touch of pizzaz by the sea, or exciting Japanese-fusion cuisine in the picturesque countryside. Either is a winner with our resident foodies.

Download our Ibiza Spotlight restaurants app to make booking your table a doddle - even in the midst of back-to-back parties!

Tickets for all of these parties are on sale now, though allocations for some run low. With less than a fortnight to go, we recommend securing yours ASAP.

Keep an eye out for part two of our guide, shining a light on alternative party options over the weekend.
