After receiving a proposal from the Ibiza's nightlife association, the local government has agreed to a run pilot event with a view to reopening the sector.
Manager of Ocio de Ibiza, José Luis Benítez, confirmed this will take place either Friday 25 June or Friday 2 July (TBC).
The event will be held at an outdoor venue and capped at 2,000 persons or 50 percent of capacity. Of this, there will be dance floor space for 500 people at any given time.
Drinks can only be consumed in a designated seated area and masks must be worn whilst you are on the dance floor.
Attendees will need to produce a digital certificate proving at least one dose of vaccination or that they have recently had a negative antigen test.
Complete details will be confirmed in due course.
Whilst we understand some of the specifics may not be everybody's idea of partying freely, given where we are, we think a conservative approach was to be expected and it's a good starting point.
Should everything go well, outdoor clubbing would be able to return approximately a fortnight afterwards, coinciding with the release of a health passport scheme.
Suddenly everything seems that bit more brighter - dancing is coming back!
