Ibiza 2019 in retrospect | The best party playlists

Rounding-up the defining sounds of summer.

Ibiza 2019 is sadly over. In the next of our series of retrospective features, we figured the best way to reflect on a summer of outrageous music is to relive it.

We've compiled the most popular of our dedicated party playlists in one place.

Featuring exclusively music we've heard out and about, our party playlists are an accurate reflection of the sound of each of the parties highlighted. Best believe, there's some killer cuts amongst them.

We've even gone to the trouble of publishing a new one. After many calls, Dixon's Transmoderna playlist is now live - and it is one of our favourites.

Put any one of them on, and we're confident they'll remind you of all the amazing memories you've made this summer. Selected by the music industry's leading DJs, these lists offer a cool snapshot of Ibiza's top parties of summer 2019.

Whether you missed out this year or you simply want to reminisce, grab some earphones and immerse yourself into our archive of summer bangers below.

Cocoon 20 | AMNESIA/Various venues | mondays

Ah, Cocoon, 2019 was always going to be a bit special, wasn't it? After 2018's campaign failed to set hearts racing, order was restored as Cocoon returned to its spiritual home for the landmark anniversary. In truth, it couldn't have happened anywhere else but Amnesia.

On top of that, Sven Väth & co also toured the island. The 20th season bandwagon stopped at Ushuaïa and Underground for some memorable one-offs.

On the music front, we got some Cocoon classics (Snabeln, This Is Balagan and The 1000 Year Storm) along with modern favourites from the likes of Adam Port, ROD AKA Benny Rodrigues and Charlotte Bendiks. The soundtrack that such an event demanded.

BODYWORKS | HÏ IBIZA | TUESDAYS

Work it to the sounds of BODYWORKS residents Solardo, CamelPhat and FISHER on Tuesdays at Hï Ibiza. Undeniable one of the standout parties of the year, the formula of BODYWORK's three components coming together was a rare example of an instant success.

Guests throughout, assisting on providing ammo along the way, have included Cristoph, Max Chapman, Mason Maynard, Eli Brown and Secondcity. Artists to thank for some of the party's key tracks played over the summer include Butch, Green Velvet and Calvin Harris.

ANTS | USHUAÏA | sATURDAYS

Saturday daytimes yet again belonged to ANTS. Ever since The Night League launched the party in 2013, the colony has struck a chord with the island's young underground demographic.

Residents such as Andrea Oliva and Francisco Allendes, supported by the likes of Joris Voorn, Steve Lawler, Nic Fanciulli and Groove Armada, make for an appealing afternoon to midnight affair. (Personally, we're huge fans of the small stage that's used until early evening.)

Metropolis was the theme in 2019 and the forward-thinking music on show was definitely fitting a city of the future.

RESISTANCE iBIZA | PRIVILEGE | TUESDAYS

On Tuesdays, we joined the resistance for a stomp to the sound of thundering beats from some of the leading names in the industry.

Carl Cox and Adam Beyer were the party's two main flagbearers, but there was heavyweight support from the likes of Maceo Plex and Richie Hawtin along the route. Promising mind-blowing music selections and cutting-edge production week in, week out, Tuesdays were all about techno.

Check out our curated RESISTANCE Ibiza 2019 playlist, ideal for dancing in the worlds largest club. It contains productions from OC & Verde, Pig&Dan, Booka Shade and many more.

Dixon presents Transmoderna | PACHA | FriDAYS

Few people saw it coming, but Dixon backtracked on words previously ushered to land the gig as Pacha's 2019 Friday night resident. Transmoderna fused art, fashion and underground music, attracting a knowledgeable but glam crowd to Ibiza Town.

Although the soundtrack couldn't be faulted, Transmoderna found itself in the predicament of being sandwiched between Marco Carola's Music On and Solomun +1 in the programme.

A slow burner, it took several weeks for the party to find its stride, but the cream always rises to the top. We made Transmoderna muso's choice and it more than warrants its own party playlist.

Defected | EDEN | FriDAYs

While the merry-go-round taking place on the opposite side of the island played a hand in Defected switching from Sundays to Fridays, in the end, it mattered not. Simon Dunmore's house behemoth revelled in its new position. If possible, it exceeded last year's campaign.

2019 was a big year for Defected in more ways than one. Celebrating 20 years in the business, label head Mr. Dunmore was recognised at the DJ Awards for his Outstanding Contribution to the island. In addition, the label also produced the biggest track of the summer in Joys.

Party regulars Sam Divine, Low Steppa, Amine Edge & DANCE and, of course, Roberto Surace himself, contribute to the playlist. As for Eden, it was banged out each Friday like clockwork.

THE ZOO PROJECT | BENIMUSSA PARK | SUNDAYS

Unleash your inner animal with some roaring tunes pulled straight from Ibiza's famous fiesta The Zoo Project at Benimussa Park.

Encouraging music lovers to explore their wild side, the Sunday daytime party programmed an impressive line-up of top-class house and techno DJs. Regular faces at the festival-style party included Savage & She, Defex, Federico Grazzini and Davina Moss.

The underground soundtrack is formed of music from the likes of Ramin Rezaie, PAX and Iglesias.

SOUNDS OF O BEACH

This playlist includes some of the summers greatest poolside hits from parties like ONE, HotBed and Kisstory, plus others at O Beach this summer.

Contributors include the island's R&B main man DJ Policy, as well as house music DJs Tom Crane, Grant Collins and the HotBed residents.

Consisting of anything from old School R&B to deep house and pop music, our O Beach playlist has a little something to suit everyone tastes.

SOUNDS OF IBIZA ROCKS

Bringing you all the hottest hits from the home of the pool party is our curated Sounds of Ibiza Rocks playlist, combining all the best tracks from the party hotel's leading events throughout the season.

From dancing at Cuckoo Land to Craig David's pool party, there's one thing we can promise from Ibiza Rocks and that is musical diversity. In this playlist expect a range of genres, perfect for party-goers who like to mix it up.

Latin sounds Ibiza

The elephant in the room. As we pointed out in our full season review, love it or hate it, we can no longer ignore the popularity of Latin music. The sector is really booming, particularly amongst the southern European crowd.

In our opinion, club operators have been wise to jump on the trend and inject some much needed diversity to their weekly programmes. All of the big venues now have a party that centres around an urban and reggaeton soundtrack.

Dip your toes in and see what you think.
