The White Island Orchestra kick-starts Es Paradis residency

House with a classical twist on Saturdays.

Es Paradis welcomed its new residents The White Island Orchestra this past Saturday. Renowned for its beautiful decor and longevity on the scene - 44 years and counting - the San Antonio super-club makes a great home for the 14-piece ensemble this summer.

Having played in some of the island's most legendary venues, including O Beach and Space Ibiza to name a few, the White Island Orchestra had me in high expectations, naturally met by their incredible talent.

Anyone who has been to Es Paradis will stand with me when I acknowledge its beauty. Withstanding its reputation as one of the island's first and most authentic nightclubs, it sees music lovers pass through its doors every week. I was thrilled to get in on the fun with this new concept.

I arrived an hour or so before the performance began and was greeted by some nifty throwbacks. Mauve (Mix A) by Circulation and Perron (Wehbba Remix) by Marc Marzenit are just a few examples of the pre-orchestra tunes.

Not long after my arrival, the festivities began. The first treat was a live trumpet performance over the top of some island classics. The Ones' famous hit Flawless lived up to its name and satisfied not only myself but seemingly everyone around me.

Adding to the fun was LED hula-hoop quipped dancers. Madan (Exotic Disco Mix) by Salif Keita played and set the vibe of what was sure to be a bouncy and unique night.

The venue was comfortably busy and the atmosphere on fire. Bean-bags and seating were scattered around the venue, yet I saw very few ever retire from the dance floor.

By 2:00 it was time for the main event and crowd shifted from the dance floor to the front of the main stage.

Expecting a classical introduction, I was pleasantly surprised by the orchestra's choice of bangers. Passion by Gat Decor slung me straight into dance mode.

After another Ibiza classic - Chicane's classic track Offshore - the singing began. In a lively rendition of Love On My Mind by Freemasons a female vocalist smashed her performance whilst the orchestra itself remained faultless.

Moby's Go also graced my ears in an emotional and mesmerising moment.

The orchestra rounded up the night for me and I left the club in high spirits.

A perfect event for both live music and house lovers, this event supplies much-needed goosebump Ibiza moments. Unlike anything else on the island, this party blends two worlds into an original experience that is impossible to resist.
