Voting opens for the DJ Awards

Nominees have been revealed.

The DJ Awards has opened voting following the announcement of this year's nominees. The 22nd edition of the DJ Awards is set to be the biggest and most diverse one to date, with a massive 125 hopeful nominees in 14 categories.

Organisers have all music tastes covered this year, with categories ranging from deep house, trance to tech house.

Two additional categories are also up for grabs - afro house and deep tech. Your fave DJs have even more chances to take home a trophy for their mantelpiece, but they need your votes.

Alongside the genre categories are four non-specific genre awards: Newcomer, Breakthrough, Electronic Live Performer and International DJ. The Industry Awards for key players in the electronic music scene will also be returning.

Vote for your favourites in afro house, bass, breakthrough, deep house, deep tech, electronic live performer, house, international DJ, melodic house & techno, newcomer, progressive house, tech house, techno and trance.

It is no surprise that Ibiza legend Carl Cox has been nominated for Best International DJ. The techno king has been nominated in all 22 editions of the awards, racking up an impressive 29 nominations over the years.

Also nominated are Adam Beyer, Black Coffee, Claptone, Jamie Jones, Joseph Capriati, Luciano, Nina Kraviz, Paul van Dayk, Ricardo Villalobos, Richie Hawtin, Seth Troxler, Solomun and Sven Vath.

Despite the obvious front runners like Cox and Armin van Burren who has been smashing the trance category since 2008, 54% of the nominees are in fact newbies to the DJ Awards.

Up for Techno DJ are ANNA, Amelie Lens, Charlotte De Witte and Nicole Moudaber who are also flying the flag for the women. This year, there are nearly 50% more female artists nominated since 2017, showing the move the industry is having towards diversity.

This year's awards will make for a topical evening, with a nod to global politics through the theme “Plastic No More. The DJ Awards has teamed up with organisations such as Oceanic Global Foundation to encourage a more ethical and plastic free raving world. Yes, please!

HEART Ibiza will host the awards ceremony on Monday 16 September alongside an evening of dinner, drinks and partying.

You have from now until 23:59 on 21 July to cast your vote, so make it count if you want to back your favourite DJ. Click here to have your say.
