IMS to honour Café Mambo head honcho

2019's IMS Legend winner.

Succeeding last year's winners Underworld, International Music Summit has chosen a native as its 2019 "Legend." The (business)man in question is none other than Café Mambo's Javier Anadón.

Javier is the patriarch behind the Sunset Strip island institution although the family empire extends to other venues, properties and even a record label.

To today's crop of music fans, he will be best known as father of Alan and Christian, sibling outfit the Mambo Brothers. Any evening they can be found mingling with guests, keeping the family vibe alive.

Javier Anadón now sits alongside island elite such as Pepe Roselló and Ricardo Urgell, in being honoured by this most celebrated of accolades - an exclusive club indeed.

This year signals Café Mambo's quarter century, making IMS's choice of recipient all the more legitimate.

Over 25 years, San Antonio's legendary sunset strip has seen quite a few aesthetic changes. Café Mambo has certainly played a pivotal role in the generation of the area.

Whilst the footpath and cycle lanes may be relatively new additions, Café Mambo has ensured that Ibizan sunsets remain as essential as ever to a whole new generation of island visitors. We're certain Javier and his clan will make 2019 a landmark to remember.

A rite of passage and often the cerebral transition from day to night on the island, Café Mambo is an unwritten tradition for many to start their night starts. Already, the family business has locked in pre-parties for Bodyworks, ABODE, Glitterbox and more this summer.

We hasten to mention the venue as being a cornerstone of both Radio 1's annual shindig and Clockwork Orange's infamous weekender. Plus, Café Mambo's official opening party is in the diary for 10 May.

We will definitely be saving some fuel in the tank for Javier's formal induction banquet at Casa Maca. The rural hotel will play host to the legend's dinner on Wednesday 22 May. Bravo Javier!
