Carl Cox has his first One Night Stand at Amnesia

King of techno Carl Cox takes on the first night of his GAME OVER Presents One Night Stand at the world-famous Amnesia.

Coxy has picked up some fresh meat and her name goes by Amnesia. A royal rumble of a line-up brought diverse sounds and styles to the melting pot, and we were one of the lucky ones able to bag a ticket to the first of three One Night Stand dates by GAME OVER on Ibiza this summer.

Does the king of techno still resonate with the next generation of ravers and still produce a pure Carl Cox classic of a party? We went to find out...

Until death do us part... unlike Coxy's records, nuptials can be broken. The iconic passing away of Space in 2016 brought about the end of the illustrious 15-year vows of Carl Cox and the Revolution.

After 15 years as the undisputed don of the White Isle, few can blame the techno titan for playing the Ibiza field.

We arrived promptly at midnight. Dutch minimal maestros Spokenn, who personify the Sound of the underground, were in control of the Club room. A tune by an unknown artist, Ijzeren Rots was putting the Amnesia faithful through its paces, an edit that Jim Morrison himself would get his groove on to.

Don't tell anyone, but the “unknown artist” is actually one half of Spokenn under his individual alias Ferro.

A cameo visit to the Terrace revealed Hybrasil bringing the vibes. He put on the perfect warm-up set for Drumcode don Adam Beyer to get the dancefloor prepared for the antics about to unfold.

Self-produced Manhattan was busting through the sub-bass heavy sound system. This banger is sure to be a dancefloor regular over the season.

At 3:00, to batten down the hatches, the BPM was about to hit overdrive. Faces were scrunching, hands were pumping, euphoria permeated the iconic terrace. Fruity overtones, melodic synths and piercing lasers were permanent fixtures for the duration of Beyer's set.

And then it was time for the Coxy-Beyer b2b - OH YES, OH YES!! Talk about legendary.

The mixers may have been separate, but the tunes were in perfect harmony. Danny Daze's Swim got the Scandinavian out in full force, techno Vikings galore.

The Terrace had by now officially transformed into a nirvana of all things techno.

Carl Cox took proceedings into the twilight hours. There's no point trying to pick the best track from this set. Shazam was getting pounded as much as the speakers, but you can always check out our Spotify playlists for more of what played on that dance floor.

Until the sunshine perforated through the roof, the madness did not draw to a close. Then it really was Game Over, and time to hit the exit doors.

One thing is for sure, Carl Cox has not lost any of that famous Ibizan magic.

Next up for the One Night Stand crew is the Pacha take-over on 10 July where Coxy will be playing all night long. Round up the troops and get on it - you would be mad to miss it.
