Underworld recognised as 2018 IMS Legends

The ground-breaking dance act will perform a rare live show at HEART Ibiza during IMS week.

Pioneering dance two-piece Underworld will be honoured at this year's IMS Legends dinner. Besides receiving the prestigious accolade, the germinal band will perform live on Ibiza for the first time in years.

Underworld follow in the footsteps of a hall of fame that includes luminaries such as Carl Cox, Nile Rodgers, Sven Väth, Fatboy Slim and Pepe Rosello. The award is handed in recognition to winner's contribution to the island's musical heritage.

Who hasn't had their arms raised and eyes shut as Born Slippy belts out at any of the island's clubs? A true Ibiza anthem.

The celebratory banquet honouring a musical and cultural legacy will also take place at HEART Ibiza on Wednesday 23 May. After dinner, the duo comprising of Karl Hyde and Rick Smith will play live at the voguish venue.

Underworld have gained a well-deserved reputation for their dynamic live shows. Headlining at the world's greatest festivals and events, playing underground techno clubs and warehouse and soundtracking theatre productions are just some of their achievements.

The duo will be bringing an intimate version of their exhilarating experience for a rare performance on the island.

IMS co-founder Pete Tong had the following to say regarding this year's choice: "From day one the band radiated a very special aura. The music, the art, the videos and the live performances elevated the genre to a whole new level. It's a great honour to be celebrating their groundbreaking career at IMS Ibiza in this unique manner."
