It has already been an off-season of change at Pacha, but the changes still keep on coming. Although Flower Power celebrates its 38th season this summer, its evergreen format is being tweaked for 2018 with more international DJs joining in. The first name is in.
When the island's longest-running residency returns on Monday 28 May, an international electronic music DJ will lead proceedings. None other than NY legend Armand Van Helden is the man tasked with leading Flower Power into new territory.
Pacha dabbled with different DJs at the tail end of last season when 2manydjs played the 2017 closing party. The countdown has now started for a new beginning of immersive magic. As ever an eclectic range of music from the 60s, 70s and 80s will be on - and for the first time the 90s, too.
Suddenly Armand Van Helden's presence looks increasingly logical, with his hits from the era including the anthem U Don't Know Me.
This is the party that defines the true spirit of Ibiza. Its unique atmosphere and ethos of peace and love are loyal to the island's hippie roots. Despite not traditionally being synonymous with electronic music, it's among the most revered and decorated parties in Pacha's programming.
To be reigning strong after such time is a testament to its longevity. Now the new look Flower Power returns to the club of the cherries every Monday night until the 1 October.
It remains to be seen whether we can expect more surprises for later dates, but the original hippie party promises to preserve its essence while continuing to put on even more incredible shows.
