How the Afterlife Privilege closing blew our minds

The joint closing of Privilege and Afterlife goes down in electronic music history as an epic event.

After a season that saw the reawakening of the massive Privilege, we were all expecting a behemoth closing party. None of us, though, was truly prepared for how it actually went down. In conjunction with Afterlife, the closing of Privilege was an event of epic proportions.

With its topnotch line-up, stunning production and humongous size, the party did more than tick all the boxes for a great party. It reminded us all what Privilege is capable of.

After a summer of successful nights, it delivered a flawless array of DJs surrounded by mindblowing lasers, filling the largest club in the world to capacity.

The 12-hour electronic music fest was infiltrated by some of the biggest names in the industry. Techno royalty and connoisseurs the likes of Dixon with his three-hour set full of unheard beauties, Solomun, Recondite, Rødhåd, Nina Kraviz, Vaal and, of course, Afterlife residents Tale Of Us, among others, took over the final night of the summer.

It was a closing with a twist, a closing that created a glowing buzz days before the date. It was a lengthy, eclectic fiesta that saw night turn into day in the most overwhelming of ways. It was, all in all, the closing party that concluded a 2017 season that blew away music-heads from around the globe.

With streams of ravers entering its doors throughout the night only to leave well after dawn, here is a taste of what went on.

Tale Of Us slamming the packed hangar-sized Hall with their signature moody-techno grooves for the first of their two sets between 3:00 to 5:00. As they played the Bilka edit of Pink Floyd's Shine On You Crazy Diamond, we touched the sky.

Laser shows filling the walls of the biggest club in the world transported the crowd to other dimensions.

The sun peeing over the Ibiza Town skyline, reminding onlookers of the island's insane beauty whilst listening to the music that has built its reputation over the years.

Tale Of Us and their second set at 9:30 following Solomun's beast set in the Vista Club.

The massive main room taking in the hefty sets from a number of superstar DJs, including Vaal, Rødhåd, Recondite (live) and Nina Kraviz, quite literally shaking the floor of the massive superclub.

The sun shining into the Vista still packed until midday on Friday.

Tale of Us concluded the colossal night with their trademark closing tune of this 2017 season: their own remix of this Hans Zimmer piece blending the electronic and orchestral dimensions.

The Afterlife and Privilege closing had the same unique essence of historical closings, showing us once again that the past, present and future all have much to offer.

After this mighty season and concluding supersized fiesta, we can expect only grand things from the giant club once again next season. Only next time around, make sure you are there in person.
