The word Resistance means the refusal to accept or comply with something. This definition applies to the globally famous event which takes place every Tuesday within the walls of Privilege. Resistance refuses to accept anything but the best lineups, consistently giving fans something ultra-special.
First landing back in late July, the night admittedly had some big shoes to fill after two huge appearances by Carl Cox. But they did not falter. First of all, party resident and electronic music legend Sasha teamed up in a back-to-back set with long time collaborator John Digweed.
The two are famously known for their residency in Twilo, NYC and were the first non-American regulars on the scene. This year is particularly special, however, as it was the first b2b set they played on Ibiza since 2009. Their highly anticipated return was on fire with sets of powerful techno combined with a plethora of melodies, keeping audiences stomping until the early hours.
One of the things that distinguish this event is the outstanding production. Privilege guests on Tuesdays can expect light shows like no other. With the stage set at the back, the room is lit up by what seems like a million LEDs glowing in the event's red signature colour. Intermittently ceiling panels drop down to reveal amazing patterns floating just above clubbers' raised hands. Futuristic dressed dancers in masks stand on podiums or hang from the air moving to the continuous rolling beat of the techno drum. Words cannot do justice to a spectacle that can be fully comprehended only seeing it for oneself.
Aside from the main room residents Sasha and Digweed, lineups have been precisely tailored to give partygoers a thrilling experience week. Next week's event on the 22 August is a case in point. You have Rumors creator Guy Gerber take to the main stage. His sets have been described as effortlessly euphoric keeping audiences captivated track after track.
Just before him, Parisian DJ and Ibiza regular Technasia will also be taking on the Resistance stage. He says, “Electronic music is the greatest language of all. No words, just the vibration, the emotion and the beat.” This feeling certainly comes through in his emotionally bright and musically sophisticated sets.
The Terrace (Vista Club) on the 22 August will see the highly renowned label Tronic take over. An innovative project from Swedish DJ and Producer Christian Smith, the label is known for releasing both house and techno records of the highest quality.
The Tronic stage will also include Beatport chart hitters Umek and Dosem renowned for their club bangers. An appearance from the Danish craftsman Noir, whose contributions to the electronic music scene via his own label (also named Noir) and Tronic itself are unquestionably outstanding. Combine that with the beautiful space of the Vista Club room and you have a night that is set to be both electric and special.
With nights running until the 12 of September, you still have a few opportunities to visit this spectacular event in the biggest club in the world. The closing party is set to be a huge ending to the season also with an abundance of back to back sets, including a massive combination of Dubfire B2B Nicole Moudaber B2B Paco Osuna B2B special guest.
