Top new tracks April 2017

A top drawer selection ready and waiting to bruise your eardrums.

Laurent Garnier 'From The Crypt To The Astrofloor' / Kompakt / 14 April

Time Warp devotees were left feeling more than a little blue when Laurent Garnier wasn't initially billed on the festival's line-up. And then, with three weeks to go, he announced that due to some big schedule changes he was back on for another year. Garnier, you absolute tease. For all those lucky buggers in attendance – who were no doubt in various states of twisted bliss – you might recall him laying down this emotive monster that's lifted from his Tribute EP on Cologne label, Kompakt. It was road-tested, and needless to say, it passed.

Dan Ghenacia and Chris Carrier ‘Kind Of Blues' / Apollonia Music / 2 April

The Parisian tech-house architects return with some clubbing juice this month in what is their fourth EP of the last 12 months. Titled The Blue, each of the three tracks use the primary colour as their muse, and as blue is said to affect us mentally as opposed to physically, it's a good choice in the game of capturing our minds before we feed our limbs. ‘Kind Of Blues' comes in with a moody demeanour, and you're hit with hefty beats and twisted vocals infiltrating the background space.

Amelie Lens 'Drift' / Second State / 4 April

It is a mega month for brutish techno records, and while there was plenty of potentials from some of the industry's most established artists, we've reserved a spot for rising Belgian export, Amelie Lens. Still buzzing from her recent release on Pig & Dan's Elevate imrpint, Lens is back with a brand new spanker on Second State. Stripped-back in its utilisation of a few powerful elements, she proves that a minimalist approach is all that is required in the creation of a power-hungry beast.

Paris Brightledge & Marlon Hoffstadt ‘Forgive You' / Hot Haus Records / 1 April

UK label Hot Haus has hit 2017 square in the jaw. Right off the back of Mall Grab's Pool Party EP comes a collaboration from Paranoids London's Paris Brightledge and Germany's Marlon Hoffstadt. It's a sumptuous, soulful Chicago peach, and the vocal reaches of Brightledge packs it with a unrestrained passion.

Anetha ‘Endless Sea' / Blocaus / 14 April

Following the success of their first release, Paris based label Blocaus series comes up with a various artists release including French artist Anetha. Earlier this year we featured her track ‘Acid Train' in our top releases series and touted her as one to watch. ‘Endless Sea' is giving us further cause to highlight her artistry, as this hypnotic throbber is a record that is capable of levelling any techno-orientated dance floor.

Solitary Dancer ´Anything´ / Dark Entries / 10 April

They released an eponymously titled debut E.P. on Midland's label Graded in late 2016 after their track ‘Desire & Apathy' was featured in his BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix. They are known for their elegant, richly-sculpted sound design and knack for propulsive club rhythms, and ´Anything´ is menacing by nature with low-end bass jabs and blipping synths. For the first time, Solitary Dancer flirts with vocal touches and what you're hearing is a male protagonist's sorrowful whispers for a lost lover. Utterly captivating.

Luca Cazal ´Be Alone´ / Four Thirty Two Records / 14 April

FOUR THIRTY TWO, the new record launched by British beacon Richy Ahmed, is in with its second release to date with a new track from Luca Cazal. A producer who is a DC10 regular for both Circoloco and Paradise, he knows the kind of energetic bounce that works for Ibiza crowds, and you might just hear this groove-packed house beat nailed to the wall at Vista Club this summer with Richy Ahmed's one-off FOUR THIRTY TWO showcase.

Matthias Tanzmann ‘Mahoney Baloney' / Moon Harbour / 12 April

The 100th release on Tanzmann's co-owned label, Moon harbour, was divvied up between four of the label's most prevalent artists, including the main man himself. Tanzmann's offering. The definition of ‘baloney' is nonsense – complete and utter ridiculousness, if you will. With the label boss billed for Circoloco's opening party, we'd imagine that you might be a witness to ridiculous scenes should this track be one of his weapons of choice.

Roosevelt ‘Sea' (Young Marco remix) / City Slang / 13 April

Marius Lauber (a.k.a Roosevelt) released his much-anticipated self-titled debut album via City Slang records last year, pushing the Cologne-based Lauber as an adroit recording artist, capable of fusing different soundscapes. On warming up for Young Marco, he was impressed by his eclectic selection and by the way he transformed ‘Sea' into a luscious, dubbed-out sonic entity.

Anthony Parasole 'Explode' / Dekmantel / 3 April

Here's a record that is the very definition of techno dynamite from New York big shot Anthony Parasole. Set to land this season with Maceo Plex's residency, Mosaic, sticking this record on now will do nothing but confirm that his date will be a mega highlight for techno purists.
