The Ibiza Island Council and San Jose town hall are holding a competition

The Ibiza Island Council and San Jose town hall are holding a competition for local musicians who write and sing in Catalan. Called Festerra the competition will take place over three qualifying rounds and a final, and is open to any musician or group from Ibiza and Formentera just so long as all the vocals are in the language of the islands.

poster for the festerra group competitionAny kind of music is allowed, and all entrants have to play a set lasting from 30 to 40 minutes. The winners get to make a CD and Video to promote their best song.

This is the third edition of the competition and in the past we've seen some of the islands' best bands - Pota Lait, Can Raia Rock Band, Ses Genetes Peludes, Complot, Projecte Mut and Rels – involved in proceedings.

25th March – San Jose (part of the town's fiesta celebration)
15th April – San Jorge
28th May – San Fernando
18th June – San Agustin – The Final
