The dream of regular, direct winter flights from the outside world to Ibiza will come true this year thanks to Ryanair. They've just announced an ambitious plan to connect Ibiza to London Stansted, Bergamo in northern Italy and Girona with thrice weekly flights.
The company's predictions are to bring around 120,000 passengers to Ibiza from the end of October 2008 to April 2009. They reckon that the Ibiza winter holiday market is just waiting to be exploited
and so do we.
Already the Councillor for Ibiza Tourism, Pepa Marí, has praised the move and stated that they are already in talks with hotel owners to get them to open throughout the winter. Spotlight has compiled
a list of hotels which remain open all year which has an excellent choice across all categories.
The cool season in Ibiza is excellent to enjoy sports like hiking, cycling, fishing, horse riding and water sports like diving and
windsurfing. There's a wonderful choice of restaurants open all year and there's nothing like sitting in a cosy country tavern with a log fire blazing on a chilly night. Don't forget, if you want to
sample everything Ibiza has to offer in winter, then the earlier you book with Ryanair, the cheaper it is!
If these routes prove to be a success, Ryanair have hinted that they may also link to Reus near Tarragona and Hamburg in the near future.
