Ibiza's Hamster Rustlers

Fur and feathers were flying in Ibiza's main resort of San Antonio

Fur and feathers were flying in Ibiza's main resort of San Antonio late the other night as thieves broke into one of the town's pet shops. The pet pilferers made their entry by prising open the metal shutters and then breaking the glass of the front door.

A little bird told us that they then made off – presumably in total silence – with a dozen canaries worth €360, two cocker spaniels valued at €700, and a pair of hamsters of unknown worth. The kidnappers are obviously planning on keeping the animals as they also nicked plenty of food and other items vital to the welfare of our furry friends.

Our prediction is that the thieves will hand themselves in to the police in about a fortnight when the constant yapping of the cockers becomes too much to bear and the randy rodents have reproduced exponentially to fill the thieves' apartment with a hamster jam.
