Perhaps Ibiza’s most famous street has finally been pedestrianised after years of only being closed to traffic during the evening. The well-known Calle San Vicente in Santa Eulalia which has the nickname ‘the street of restaurants’ is now solely reserved for those on foot.
The Mayor of the town officially opened the new and improved street this week in a ceremony which also involved lots of free drink and nibbles provided by the restaurants and bars along its length. Costing €411,000, the work not only involved preparing the street surface, but also improving the infrastructure and putting the former overhead electricity cables underground.
We think that this very pleasant street will now benefit even more from extra trade as a traffic free thoroughfare, with people being able to stroll from restaurant to restaurant on warm summer’s evenings. Nice one Santa Eulalia!
