Father's day in Britain probably invokes images of a monogrammed handkerchief and a bottle of Old Spice. Here in Ibiza the Fiesta of San Jose, the patron saint of fathers, is celebrated with just a little more conviction and lots more vigour.
Whilst 19th March is the actual day of the fiesta, the fun and games have already begun in and around the village nestling in the slopes of Ibiza's highest mountain Sa Talaia.
The celebrations last until 26th March and include football competitions, fishing, wine tasting, folk dancing, cycling, an antique car rally, waterpolo, darts, cards and sling shooting.
We've picked out the entertainment highlights which take place in the church square and include:
17 March, 21.30. Flower Power Party - wear your 70's gear.
18 March, 21.00. Rock Concert with Estatuas de Sal and Can Raia Rock Band.
19 March, 21.30. More live music with Pota Lait, La Madre que nos Parió and fireworks at midnight.
