This year's timing of the Easter holiday in mid-April is just perfect for Ibiza. Last year the holiday fell in March so many hotels didn't bother to open as the gap between then and the official start of the season in May was too long.
However 2006 will see many more hotels open for business and most of them will be hoping to cash in on the largest number of sporting visitors ever. Sporting tourism is one of the key factors in prolonging the Ibiza holiday season as Spring and Autumn are perfect for most sporting activities on the island.
Sailing, cycling, even triathlon, running and so on are some of the outdoor competitive events which take place around this time and which this year will bring over 10,000 visitors to our shores.
This type of tourism has augmented five-fold in only 10 years and travel agents are already saying that scheduled air and sea tickets from the mainland are in short supply already for this period!
In addition many of the hotels will be welcoming package tourists again for the Easter holidays as some of the big German and British operators will be sending their first clients of the year at this time.
