Set your alarm clocks because the Germans are returning to Ibiza in their thousands this summer. If you want to book a sunlounger you'll have to be up early to beat the sunbathing champions of Europe as this year up to 37% more Germans are expected on the island.
Teutonic travellers are returning to their once favourite haunts in Ibiza for several reasons; cheaper third world destinations like Turkey and Egypt are troubled by Islamic Fundamentalism and bird flu, and of course the Fatherland is staging a wall-to-wall 24/7 football competition this June.
So who can blame them for taking a short hop to Ibiza, a sunny European destination, with all the modern conveniences of home.
On the flip-side of Ibiza's tourism industry, it may seem incredible that people who live all year on a holiday island paradise might want to take the odd break themselves. But it does happen and Ibiza is blessed with no less that 41 travel agents - an enormous number given the island's 100,000 population - all vying for the privilege of transporting customers to their chosen destination.
