There'll be clouds of blue smoke all round the island this coming Bank Holiday weekend as the Ibiza Island Rally hits our country roads. Over a hundred vintage motorcyclists (the bikes are vintage, not the drivers) arrive from all over Spain and Europe to enjoy a slow speed rally down the lanes and 'caminos' of Ibiza.
Organised by Ibiza's Historic Vehicle Club, the rally is not a competition, as none of the bikes can reach very high speed, but more of a chance to show off the gleaming old specimens of ancient engineering.
Calling in at many of Ibiza's lovely little villages the rally will reach its high spot in the Church square of San Jose on Sunday when the bikers call in for some light refreshment of buñuelos and frígola at the bar Can Bernat Vinya just opposite.
